Another colorful Ming shot - with the ‘first’, the Ming 17.01 Blue 🔵
Still remember the day when I first saw the prototype - that was before they were the established brand they are today - and decided to go for both the blue and anthracite dial ones.
Great size, titanium, the digital guilloche dial made of sapphire and a truly unique design language that they have wonderfully evolved over the years while keeping it immediately recognizable, all sang to me. And it was a rare case of a ‘bargain’ at launch.
While I wear the newer Mings more these days, the 17.01 is still an interesting piece. At the original price point one could not expect strap perfection - something easy to change (and that has been sorted right out of the box at the new price point nowadays) - and the hands and other elements have improved from iteration to iteration.
But the charm is still there, just like at the first viewing 🙌🏻👍🏻

I also love the simple yet elegant design language of these Ming watches.
Whilst they are quite simple being just a two handed watch there are enough small details that elevate it into something a bit special and shows why less really can be more sometimes.
