Horological Meandering

During Chinese New Year celebrations I was in Hong Kong and got myself this Cartier Tank Chinoise.
It's from the Collection Privée collection and not in the catalogue anymore.
So I found myself lucky that the Boutique still had one left.

The domed crystal is something not many Cartiers have, I love the effect it has on the shape of the watch.



It's size is definitely larger than the original model from 1922 and larger than
a large automatic Tank Francaise.

I love this bubble plexy on such a dressy watch.
It gives an amazing result.
This CPCP is a classic, and a keeper!

Congrats on finding such an uncommon watch. It has all the elements of the best in the CPCP range, simple, elegant and well-made. Some of the more complicated CPCP watches are a bit too over the top for my taste, all the complications overwhelm the subtle design elements like the guilloche dial and cabouchon on the crown.

Of course, aside from the unique case and crystal design, the quality Piaget-based movement reminds us of the watchmaking history since the 19th century of both Cartier and Piaget.
