Horological Meandering

Hi, experts

Planned to get my 1st chronograph.

After some search, I like the design of Fortis Official Cosmonauts Chronograph with a smaller size ( 38mm ), comparing to the current trend.

So far, I only know it has an ETA 7750 movement. Need some advice or comment on Fortis watches, in term of reliability, accuracy and etc..

If IWC Pilot Chronograph Auto got 100 marks, how much would you give to this watch??

if IWC got 100, then maybe Fortis would get a 65?  It's partly prestige of IWC places it so far ahead, and the resale value, which, while not spectacular, is still far better than Fortis.

The 7750 inside is the same movement in virtually all non-in-house mechanical chronographs these days--but some companies tinker with/improve it more than others. IWC makes big improvements to the 7750 before it goes in their watches.

That's about it. Fortis is a step on the ladder 'up' to the big name manufactures...

Omega Speedamasters can be had at good prices, pre owned, and would certainly get 100 out of 100.

Actually, I own an IWC Mark 15 and am very happy with it's quality. I don't expect Fortis to have the same quality as IWC, but, I just don't want to pay for 'complaint'.

I did consider Omega Speedmaster, but, I prefer to have a date + day functions with smaller size. So, Fortis is my preferred choice, in term of design.

Appreciated if some Fortis owners can comment the quality.

. . . chronograph, and was satisfied with the build quality for the reasonable asking price. It was dead accurate and reliable, and the only reason I don't have it now is because I acquired an Omega Speedmaster Mk II and couldn't justify having two chronos, so I gave it to my good friend Marc . . . he's had it for over two years now and it's still running impeccably well, although it's seeing less wrist time now that he's wearing his grandfather's vintage Rolex. There's nothing fancy about them, but they don't charge fancy prices, either . . . if I really wanted an alarm watch, I'd probably get the Fortis if the Memovox was out of reach. Cordially, Art
