Horological Meandering

We have all tried on quite a few watches over the last year, some we have handed over the cash for and some just did not hit the sweet spot.

 Please give us your experiences

Since it was introduced this year, I have tried it a few times and I am completely obsessed by it's appearance. It does not happen that often that I like every detail of a watch. Especially in white gold it is so cool. But the fact is, that it's too large for my wrist and also for my wallet, but that last reason could be worked on. LOL GEO

If you can provide a list of watches to vote on - and only if I own one and not just tried it on for a minute or two at a store of from a friend - some sense could come out of this, but I just don't see that happening.

The word "best" is meaningless for me, so "favorite" comes to mind.

My favorite watch is the one I am wearing right now.

And that is - Nothing.

I just came out of the shower wearing absolutely nothing and, although partially clothed, I am now wearing No Watch at All.

But that wont last much longer than this post.

Then I will strap on Something that many of you would call "the best" - or not!

If you had rephrased your question to "worst watch", that wouldn't light my fire either. Nor would humblest watch or most expensive watch. I have feeling, yes feeling for all of these. Most accurate watch - perhaps - however that would only be a sample of one among many; and this theme has become beating a dead horse - unfortunately, because accuracy is indeed important to me.

Best by test or best for you - good for me or good for you, me and you.Then there is the delicate matter of taste, what you - especially you! - and some others like, including little old me.

So please give us something to go upon, and eventually vote upon, but then it would be a matter of judgments and preferences, all of which can be found on these forums.

That's something else than the best watch of the year.
It works differently for everybody, it depends of what you have seen and tried.

I would never try on a watch that I would Never consider buying - not even for the feel of it.

So I came, I tried - and bought a Richard Lange PLM in platinum. There's my "vote".

Sorry for overheating under the collar on the little word "best".

Those from BluNotte are not bad at all.

As for me, I am battling a skin condition, unrelated to watches, but it has also aflficted my wrists so no live shots will be taken or are available right now.

By the way, I am just as crazy-insane with or without the cortisone treatment that I have to take! But slowly, very slowly, I am responding to the treatment

In a major way it has also been a Sarpaneva year for me. Black Moon, Harvest Moon (44mm), K2, RG K3, Loiste II - and I can't see it ending soon in the next one!

I AM looking forward to the next year, when Vianney will be bringing back my Trio, as well as ... as well as? A few surprises are in store - and then I will drag out the camera.

I can't name one in particular but of those not in my small collection, but I would say Moser Perpetual 1 and the DeBethune Dreamwatch 1 in PT would be major contenders.

the Sonata Cathedral gave me much joy so UN for me

Firs one is not a 2009 novelty. But I was totally seduced by its beauty, by its hypnotising two escapments Tourbillon.




Second one is the amazing Zeitwerk. Innovative, strangely beautiful... Lange at its best.



But I had the chance to try a lot of watches in 2009... so it was a very difficult exercice for me to select only two watches.

The best watch I tried this year is a vintage!

Not that 2009 was not an uninteresting year but since you asked for the best watch I tried this year ....

This Vintage is a real rare bird, and it is the european Deep Sea Alarm form JLC.



I hunted it for so many years that to me, it is the best one I tried and added in my collection, this year.

This is the very first year I added only one current watch, for several vintage...
