A pair of the most incredible watches.
Technically the Hybris Mechanica 11 is a technological force to behold. It wears great and although thin does not feel fragile. 4 patents and completely understated.
It sits well on the wrist and quietly goes about counting time. Unfortunately it is not ready to speak and I could not activate the repeater as it is a prototype. The movement still has some finishing work to go through. Still a pleasure and a joy to examine and wear.
Then came the......
I've read the technical description of the watch but I cannot find the words to describe the sheer awe inspiring beauty of the piece in the metal.
Firstly it wears well. I must say it wore perfectly. The Gyro 2 is not wearable in my opinion but this absolutely is.
Even though a prototype it was stunning on both sides.
The movement is engraved beautifully. The Gyro is absolutely mesmerizing with the eye but more so with a loupe.
Besides being beautiful two timeOnes allows it to be a great travel watch (really?).
For perspective with the skeleton Reverso it is not much larger, 46 mm I believe and somewhat taller but it is a force of nature.
In truth one could walk around with the HM 11 and not draw a second look from anyone except those in the real know. The Gyro 4 is a show stopper. No one can expect to fly under the radar wearing it.

Both the Hybris Mechanica 11 and the Tribute Gyrotourbillon are tours de force, for sure.
I am still waiting to listen to the definitive HM 11, but what I heard sounded promising.
Now, I would have preferred a HM 11 WITHOUT Tourbillon, I must say.
As for the Reverso Tribute Gyrotourbillon, I was totally smitten by it. The size, but most important, the height, which is a true challenge, if you consider the nature of the tourbillon. Brilliant.
As you said, this one is wearable, which was not the case of the Gyro II, at least for most of human wrists.
Now, the question is: Will you go for it?

Truth of the matter my hands were shaking and my wife had to help me take pix. I am certainly going to have my thoughts focused on these watches. Will one wind up on my wrist? Time will tell. ;)

I do not know which one I could choose if I had the opportunity to buy one one day
Nevertheless, my heart tells me the Hybris Mechanica 11 because it would be more wearable on my wrist, it holds my favourite complication (minute repeater) and a nice frozen dial. And, last but not least, a Tourbillon.
I own a JLC Master Tourbillon in steel and it would be a big next step in my collection to own this beauty.

Well for sure it is a difficult decision. Why not both? Carpe diem. Actually a very hard decision. The gyro is simply breathtaking but he HM 11 is technologically a feat both actually wear well though differently of course and my wrist is small. [nt]

That I know for sure my friend. Side by side the gyro overwhelms the HM 11 as the gyro is a dominant piece.
The gyros escapement is mesmerizing as you have seen.
I still have yet to hear the song of the HM 11 and that may call to me.

Like I have said... The reverso aesthetic does not work on my wrist...
This is why I have to hope that JLC continue to develop the new technologies of the Gyrotourbillon in the future and hope we see it in a Master case? 12.5mm thick.
I rather hope they will stop the Gyrotourbillon. If they go on, they play with its exclusivity. [nt]
