After over twenty years, I still love my Reverso. My only regret is that I should have picked a different Reverso model, as JLC is no longer able / willing to supply straps for this one, and the bracelet is a bit fragile.
My wife had the Women’s version, and the entire bracelet came apart and had to be replaced.

At the last service (10+ years ago?), they recommended that mine should be replaced. I cannot remember their reasoning, but decided not to do so. On a positive note, the bracelet is very comfortable, and it has a great easy adjust system. This message has been edited by India Whiskey Charlie on 2025-01-01 01:10:37
the good news is that I bought a brand new rubber strap this year for my reverso gran sport including clasp, for a very reasable price, directly via JLC.
My concern with the rubber strap, unlike the leather one, is that it can only be sized for one specific size.

Since I am looking to pass the watch on to one of my kids, that might not be the best solution. JLC did have a brown strap available, but they can no longer get the black one. This message has been edited by India Whiskey Charlie on 2025-01-01 01:09:51
JLC ought to supply straps for their past products for much longer, it's only been less than 20 years since the last Reverso Gran'Sport models were made! Do tell, what makes the bracelet fragile? I have a bracelet on a Master Control and I didn't notice any fragility. Very nice engraving by the way! Which painting is that modeled after?
Thank you Patrick! I agree re. the straps, and responded above about my bracelet issues.

JC Randell, who was the official JLC Engraver helped me with the design of the engraving. I do not believe that it is based on a specific painting. The large “C” is my initial, and the women is supposed to be my wife. The four pigs represent my four kids that I used to lovingly refer to as my piglets. You will also notice the stick in my wife’s hand to keep the pigs in line. I am not sure that my kids ever agreed as which pig represented them. 😀 This message has been edited by India Whiskey Charlie on 2025-01-01 01:08:34
I thought it was a piece of art with the "C" motif integrated in. I like the wife and children (as piglets) - it's very very nice. Thank you so much for sharing this special piece with us!
You must be so pleased to have your own unique watch! Did you have the engraving done by JLC? Pity for the strap, have you tried to get one done in leather? Best, E.
JC Randell was the official JLC Engraver at the time, and it was an absolute pleasure to work with him.

I did not contact any strap makers, but seem to remember reading that they would have needed an existing strap as a model. This post has motivated me to contact JLC to get the brown strap (which was available earlier this year), before they run out of that one too.
