...and I am interested to read others' opinions. I am kind of exploring the same question. I guess i am looking for the perfect Reverso for me.
I am curious, if you had the Grande GMT and regret selling it, why not get another one? I had been thinking that the Grande GMT is the perfect modern Reverso, especially if one travels. The 8-day power reserve is really nice. But perhaps it is just a bit too thick or not as elegant as perhaps a less complicated Reverso might be...? But I still think it may be the perfect modern day Reverso.
The 986 Duodate is lovely, but I do not like the date display. If that were a large date or simple date display, this one would get my vote.
The Grande Date is lovely, too. It also has the great 8-day power reserve and the view on the back side is very nice, indeed.
To your list I might add the Grande Reverso 976. In this case, the dial is simple and lovely, time only without date. But the caseback display reveals nothing special to look at (IMHO) and the power reserve is pretty standard at 48 hours. Granted the movement allows for quick and easy time adjustments when traveling.
Lately I have been thinking that I would really like a very simple time-only Reverso in the XGT size case or even the 986/976 size with a superbly finished movement, something better than the usual finish on the Reversos, to view on the reverse side.
Well, I am looking forward to see what you decide and why.
Cheers,

No date, 8-day power reserve, moon phase and even better rear view than the Grande Date, right?

I'd like to see them.

I love the simplicity of the Grande Taille, but it is quite a bit smaller in all dimensions than the GMT. I think I need to try on a Grande Taille....
What a nice family portrait! Thanks.

.
I sthe finishing of the entire watch and particularly the movement of this special Reverso in platinum at a much higher level than say the regular Grande Date? I can understand that the platinum Reversos and say the RG anniversary series from the 1990s are probably finished at a higher level. Is that true? I guess I am wondering if JLC has ever produced or is likely to produce a relatively simple, perhaps regular production Reverso (not skeletonized, not a tourbillon) finished at the level of say a Patek or Lange? I know that JLC is capable of it, and I think they achieve it with a very small number of Reversos and severl of their very high end pieces.
Just wondering,
