Wait, my friend, I still have some " alarming " threads to post...
Don't you think that the Alarm is as friendly as it is captivating?
what I find really stunning and impressive is all the Richness and the Diversity JLC demonstrates in the development of this complication.
Best, and thanks for your nice comments.

Yep, 1120 pieces on a 4 years period.
I was on to buy the red dialed Polaris II, indeed, but I passed on it as I already own the Grey dial, which is in stunning condition.
I sawq several blue dials, 2 red Dials, and only one grey dial, which seems to be, with the red Pola II, the rarest.
Why did JLC produced 1120 Pola II?
Well, my guess is that the Quartz era threatnened in a very serious way Mechanical watches- we were in the Mid 70ies- and the Polaris II design is very strongly linked to a period, aesthetically speaking.
Without forgetting that there were a bit more Polaris 1714 pieces ) but not that more, and that the Deep Sea Alarm was not produced in a ùmassive way ( 1061 or 1062 pieces ), as well as the Master Mariner Deep Sea ( 1500 pieces ).
So, why not only 1120 pieces?
Thanks for your kind words, my friend...I have the feeling you're more and more deeply diving into the Vintage JLC World...
Best,
Nicolas
It seems that your journey is longer than expected, Stefan...
Have fun, that's the most important!

The Red dial, as well as the grey, are real rare birds, my friend....
Happy to know that you enjoyed the post!

You just made my day! Or ruined my good nights sleep… Depending on how to look at it!
Thank you Nicolas for a great review and stunning photos!
Very interesting and education – love it!
The first photo of the org Polaris -65 will haunt me in my dreams to night!
Both PI and PII are real eye catchers but in very different ways.
I must say that while the PI is easier to the eye in a classic sports watch way, while the PII is more funky and “far out” in a good way, IMO.
My pick would be the grey one, but as you know I like colours…
So I would love to have the blue and the red as well to mix it up a little!
Greedy – yes, and I am honest about it!
Do you know how high the PII is?
The case obvious comes from the “Egg” E861, Cal 825, bumper automatic.
I the two “Eggs” I got, one is made in -64 and in -69, according to serial number matched to Zaf’s book.
The “Egg“ measures 39x43mm as well and is about 11,5mm high including the crystal.
But the bezel and dial is much more discreet.
Thanks again for a wonderful review!

The Polaris '65 is just a grail, an obsession for me, and the one I posted here belongs to one of the Heritage Gallery member....Lucky Guy!
I thought a lot about what color of dial to choose, and after having seen the 3 in the flesh, I opted for the grey one, the closer to my Thema of Collection: Black Memovoxes...
But I must say that just after the grey, I found the red very appealing, with some sublime patined indexes.
I'm sure that any of these 3 will make your day, my friend.
The Polaris II is, I would say, around 1,5 or 2 mm thicker, due to the bezel, and the multi level construction of the case.
The E 861 is a ref I considered, because of the Ad with the Concord, gathering a Pola 68, an E 861, and an E 855 with the Ebony indexes...
But I already have some more urgent priorites...
Best, my friend, and thanks for your nice comments and great input.
Nicolas
I did a copycat photo of my TTP-68 and the Egg.
Even if the PII and the egg has the same case measures, the Egg appears as much smaller than the PII, mostly because of the bezel shape and colour, IMO.

The human mind is very strange!
I have exactly the same thoughts to get the E855 just because of that ad!
And then I would cheat because I don’t have the org P-68…
I do understand your “grail”!
Especially if I had your collection of black vintage memos!
That’s an awesome collection!!!
But now when I got the memo int – the hunt is on!
The only thing is that I am not sure about is in which order to get them…
My greedy mind wants them all, but my wallet says it’s a very loooong term project!

Take any 40 mm watch and compare it to a 42 mm, you will see a huge difference.
Well, about the Concorde Ad, I would have to pick 2 watches to make it, not only one, and if the E 855 is not too difficult to find, the E 861 is a bit more diificult to find.
My friend, getting them is not a problem of time, but of opportunity.
When you find one, get it.
Then you 'll se it what order they come, you' ll see, it will take a certain time before you can get all of them.
Best, Blomman.
Nicolas
And you are right! 2mm is a big difference.
To hunt them in a certain order would be even more difficult than just hunt them…!
The PII is definitely one to hunt!

..thanks for the case back photo!
The grey Polaris II is a great choice.
Any inside shots? I'm intrigued by the construction of this case.
As I didn't want to ruin the bezel, which is in mint condition.
But when I give it for a service, I will ask my wathcmaker to let me take a pic of it.
Best, Ben.
Nicolas.

Yours is also in stunning condition, Greg.
At a moment, I was on to get all the 3, as I couldn't decide which one, but the Blue I saw was in poor condition, an the Red was in a so so condition, so, I preferred to get the grey.
You should post some of your treasures, my friend!
Best,
Nicolas
Very well written and composed review.

I tried a funky presentation for a funky watch...
Maybe the text is a bit too centred?

the Reveil was just updated and released in the 40mm Memovox and Memo Int'l. However, if the MMR's "high tech" gadget is really the gongs affixed to the sapphire crystal, HOW LONG before JLC makes a revolutionary Memovox where the gong bends and comes through the dial and is affixed to the crystal?
Just wondering (and hopefully stirring up the bee's nest).

PS: Thanks Nicolas, for a wonderful post. The burgundy, though not my color, is very appealing due to its rarity. Keep 'em coming.
Even if they're not totally the same...
I would love to see JLC releasing an alarm lwhich would sound like a Minute Repeater, with its elegance.
Housing such a refined Alarm in a refined watch: The Duometre.
And now, what would you think?
As for the Polaris II, when I was preparing this post, I was wondering how many would like this watch.
Obviously, more than I thought.
Yes, the Red Pola II is stunning.
I think that the patina of the indexes truly makes this red dial so appealing.
Best, and thanks for your nice comments.

in the UN Sonata. However, I found that although it was a "pretty" sound, it didn't strike me as an "alarm," due to its quietness. Now, if the 55db gong in the MMR could be transformed - or, even better, if they could make the MMR have a toggle to switch BETWEEN alarm and repeater...THAT would be awesome!
In the meantime, I think it'd be easier to make the Memovox's alarm bend and attach to the crystal. But, I'm not a micromechanical engineer, just a lover of micromechanical engineering!
-Dean
But this is because I'm delected with my U.N Sonata Alarm that I would be very pleased to see what JLC can do in the field of " elegant sounding alarms ".
So, we'd have the basic alarms, or the elegant.
The basics, to wake you up every morning, the elegants to remember the important moments of the day...
I speak, I speak...
Best,
Nicolas
