We already know that JLC will celebrate the 80th Birthday of this iconic model.

What we don't know is what it will be...

Any hints from the recent Past?

Well, the 60th was the first RG in the GT case, to feature a complication in the Reverso family ( the RDM ) and to receive a gold finish on the movement ( 14 Kt Rose Gold ).



The Septantieme was the first to adopt the XGT Case, the Grande Date, the 8 Days movement, and a 18 Kt White gold ( or RG for the RG Version ) finish for the movement:





What can be the 80eme?

As the 60eme and Septantieme were innovative Reversos, my guess is that the 80eme would follow the same way.

In this case, would we have an Alarm, all the other complications being used before?

That would be a dream of mine...

In what case?

Classic, Grande Taille, XGT or Grande Reverso...Or Squadra?

I would eliminate the Squadra, as we already had the Triptyque for the 75th Anniversary, and the XGT, except if JLC thinks about housing an alarm, which requires a certain thickness.

My guess is that the 80eme will use the GT or the Grande Reverso case.

But for what purpose, if not for the Alarm?

Here are my guess, dreams and desires:

1/ Take a splendid enamel dial, white, with blue indexes and heated blue hands, install it in a case whose size should be somewhere between the GT and the XGT, and a superbly finished movement.

A kind of Homage to the original, a return to some pure, simple and true values.

2/ A Grande Reverso, but a technical one ( did you notice that, for the moment, JLC didn't offer a very complicated Grande Reverso and seems to be very discrete in its development, as if they reserved us something, a ...surprise? ).

Why not this famous alarm, which could receive some of the technical solutions / innovations from the Extrem Lab?

That would be exciting!

In fact I am thinking about finding the Omega Museum piece from the 30s. Looks a bit like Reverso but is a diving watch.

Nico, perhaps we should offer ourselves to the design department of JLC. During the off time you could take care of your crooks and I could take care of my oil tankers. As a result we would get Judge Proof Shipping Inspired Reversos!

I know its impossible because it a celebration so it requires some "seriousness",but an semi open dial showing hammers action for the ultimate alarm would be amazing.

Rest of the dial silver or creamy enamel

beautiful skeleton finish of what is showing,

manual winding,

gmt on verso side,

must chime like a minute repeater.

As for a classic, I'd better see an enamel...

Have a look at what Breguet did with the Reveil du Tsar Boutique Edtion.

it must be a classic so enamel is the best guess for an anniversary model....but if you ask my wish,I would love to see a little modern touch to it.....Saw the Breguet but not really my cup of tea...

I was thinking of the 2 openings on the Duometre a QL and how well they play with the dial....that could be a perfect opening to show the hammer.....

Oh wait....that could be my dream for the 4th Duo......Duometre a Reveil????????????Yes,sorry I'll save my wish for that one....ha ha...

ps: re the 60eme and Septantieme, the calibres were not simply finished in gold but the bridges were actually made in gold!

You're of course right for the precision about bridges, I included them in the movement ... Well, at least in my mind.

Since the GranSport is discontinued. Maybe they'll revamp/improve that movement for the 80th.

I only mentioned the GS because it was still available until just a few years ago....

I could not see a split easily, the movement it a bit too strange and complex. I could see either:
a. Some sort of striking addition, maybe a "ding" every 15 min or something
b. Calendar module, esp if they get rid of the second hand on the front dial, the could put one on the front.
c. Something in the outer case, like the 3rd dial of the tryptique, but less massive of a watch

Platine or Tantallum case, Reverso Grande size. With striker or tourbillon complication, and something type enamel dial. Will be a perfect 80eme Reverso for my taste.

There could be two options. A Futurematic in a Reverso case. Might be a bit difficult, but I'm sure they'd be a way.

Secondly a updated reverso Duo - again in a GT case, but have all the functions of the Grande Reverso Duo - that would mean dropping the button/pusher and running everything from the crown. Available in SS please.

with trebuchet hammers and crystal gong.

enamel white dial with blue hands and moonphase on one face ala reverso sun/moon, and skeleton dial featuring repeater on the other side ala hybris mechanica.

 i want one dial to reflect tradition and chronometry and the other to shout "hi-tech". I think only the reverso can truly embrace the polar ends and duo personalities, sort of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde effect.

must be affordable(to me at least) and tied to a charity organization that is also going 80th year, and part of sales proceed will go to that charity.
