I have a question regarding the alarm on the JLC Deep Sea Alarm that I am hoping Nico or another owner/expert might be able to answer - I recently picked up a Deep Sea Alarm and have noticed that the ring of the alarm sounds markedly different from the alarm that is fitted in the Amvox 1. That is, while the Amvox 1 has a loud ring, the alarm on this Deep Sea is quieter, almost muffled in comparison, and is more of a "buzz" that a loud "ring".

Is this normal?

While one of the innovations of the c.956 movement is the suspended-gong arrangement which allows for that clear, school bell-like chime, it intentionally modified to emit a buzzer-type sound for duty in the DSA  to further enhance the watch's historical accuracy.

To me, this is yet another example of the lengths that JLC went through to ensure that the Memovox Tribute to Deep Sea would be the absolute best, er...  "tribute" they could possibly make.

I am so used to the clear and bracing ring of my Amvox, which I do love, that this was a big surprise. 

like a school bell and then ended like a frog far^%ng...

... Which sounded like that.

Robert, I like you was not over the top on the ring. Had never seen or heard the watch until the day my AD said the baby had landed. But for me. I adore this watch.   And after a few weeks have come to appreciate the alarm. I did not realize the history. But, thanks to all for sharing that point.   It has added to the love.  History is important.

I just hate April 15 here in USA 

I must say that I was a little surprised by the alarm when I took delivery of my DSA. I was profoundly different from the alarm on my Polaris or my MMI, to me it was more like a vibration than an alarm.

The feeling was somewhat disturbing, but I finally got used to it and today kind of appreciate the difference.

It got me think about the function of the alarm and I wondered whether the vibration propagated better under water than the ring of the other watches. Never had time to look up the subject though.

All in all a lovely watch and of course Nicolas confirmed that this was normal and conform to the original watch.

My AMVOX 1 is ringing by far much louder although with more 'metal distortion' than my Memovox International and I have to say I appreciate the sonic differences as they match each of the watch's character.

when the alarm first went off - that underwater the vibration would be the important means to "sound the alarm" that time is running out.

Glad to know that this is normal. The TT DSA is very charming.
 

although I dont use the alarm as it barely rings,

but that makes it more beautiful, no
