Little help needed with Master Compressor Memovox
Hi, I have recently acquired ad used one that came without the instruction manual, watch seems to be in good condition but I can't figure out the internal roating bezel.
The crown that operates it is on the upper left side as you know but it is extremely difficult to turn it, Am I doing something wrong?
should it be this hard?
Am I supposed to try and pop it out first?
Any help would be appreciated.

The watch has 3 crowns...
The one at 10 o'clock operates the bi-directional bezel (unfortunately, it doesn't have any 1-minute notches, but slips freely).
The crown at 2 o'clock operates the alarm (pull it out to set the alarm time), push in and wind to contract the alarm's spring).
The crown at 4 o'clock operates the time winding/setting.
**With all of the "Compressor" crowns, make sure you turn the wing-nut 180 degrees until you see the 2 red arrows, which allows you to freely move the crowns. Without turning it (viewing the 1 white arrow) is not advisable.

Watchme has described the operations but DO NOT POP OUT
the crown at 10. It does not pull out. If you did, well you have to send it back to Richemont for hospitalisation.
Enjoy the watch. It's one of the best I think JLC have come out with and a keeper for me.

Thanks, you guys. It is a really fantastic watch and I am thoroughly loving it. I did not pop out the bezel crown. It just seems very hard to turn. I find the rotating bezel a useful function in watches. And the crown that operates the bezel seems super stiff.
How hard do you find to turn it?

This is my first JLC and I am really excited about it. Although in reality it is the second i am buying, I got one for my wife last year. She loves her Squadra lady duetto too. They are superb watches for the money in my opinion.

This is one of the specificities of the Cal 918.
As for your bezel being too hard to turn, it is difficult to judge.
I had this MC Memovox, 5 or 6 years ago, and I don't remember it was too stiff.
Maybe you can show it to a JLC Boutique, as they have a watchmaker who will tell you.

Bezel crown.
If yours is difficult to turn, treasure it! Most of us perceive as a problem that the bezel can be rotated /moved off position, by a slightest touch of the crown. (This and the absence of quick set date are the only blemishes which are in fact easy to accept.)
Off topic.
Did you have a chance to notice the extreme efficiency of the winding mechanism? No winder is needed to keep Compressor Memovox running - it is enough to put in on the wrist for a few (two or three) hours a day.

The bezel crown does not seem that hard anymore. Maybe I just got used to it. But what you said is exactly what my watchmaker said. If it is too easy to turn how good is it to have it then. How would you know when that damned frozen pizza is ready?
I was surprised when I first got it and only played with the watch a little and then put it down and the next day it kept ticking. So I agree. It seems to either wind pretty efficiently or just hold the "charge" very well.

For me it's my go to watch, my beater...
As for the bezel crown, no it should not be hard to turn.
Infact mine is almost too smooth so I turn the bezel with my wrist...
I would ask a professional have a look.

I will take it to a local watchmaker, he is a good guy and ask him to open the case and take a peek.
Other than that I am enjoying the watch, it will also be my go to watch I think, taking the place of an IWC aquatimer. It is just a little sad that I may have to live with a hard to turn bezel, the deal was good considering that it is on a SS bracelet.
Anyway, thanks for the reply. I will post a pic of my wife's squadra if I can ever peel it off her, she wears it daily too.

I took it to my local watchmaker, he said that he did not think the bezel crown had anything wrong, he opened the case and we had a look at the movement.
It's all cool!
