As a long time owner of the ROO, I think I am entitled to an opinion on the CasiOak or Royal Broke - so here it comes:
As of late we have seen a lot of mastery of irrelevant complications and the use of space material to solve problems that do not exist. Let‘s instead revisit the idea of the ROO.
An elegant, tool-like non-gold sports watch.
So you need robustness, comfort and useful complications.
On the CasiOak water resistance and gshock module are paired with lume, alarm, timezone and timer. What else do you need?
All of that in the classic Genta shape with Feak-line absence of crowns.
I truly believe this is the watch AP should make, but does not and likely will not.
To me it is a missed opportunity to stay avant garde.

As to Casios, I stick to the one and only original 5600
In my youth
i had much of these Casio’s.
There where Swatches, but that watches let me cold because i was happy to wear a Casio.
Honestly, Casio is the start for me of the watch disease that came later into my life.
And from Casio to AP Royal Oak. I guess Casio did bring people to AP.
I’d never return to Casio, but i have warm memories.
And i have never wore a AP RO.

CasiOak is a nice toy
The customization is funny, though I think I'd choose the ROOS style with rubbers strap.

I am moving xxcesar's "not a knockoff" thread back to the AP forum
I nicely messaged xxcesar explaining I thought the thread is more appropriate on HoMe. He replied my decision was "snobby".
It seems to me the message of the post is really about what AP should be making, but the title instead references the Casio not being a knockoff.
I am an architect and I design custom homes. As long as I am replying, my opinion on the title portion of the post is the Casio case is a clear copy of the Royal Oak. Whether or not AP should make something seems like a different topic.

I agree completely, it is clearly a knockoff. I think he’s trying to be funny calling it a “concept” which is an AP term as well.

The "snob" remark came across as confrontational; I did not understand its necessity in the message to me.

I once dabbled in getting one of these watches when I saw them, but I later understood it’s a non-OEM made steel case on top of the original GA-1200 Casio module.
Perhaps if Casio made this completely in steel as a full homage then I would have seriously bought it for fun, but it’s too much frankenwatch and tries too hard to replicate the original. Like putting a Ferrari engine in a Pontiac fiero body…I prefer to buy the pure Pontiac fiero or vice versa…
But…it’s a very interesting idea to merge electronics with mechanical movements with iconic designs - Urwerk and FPJ and others come to mind - AP has surprised us in the past so who knows what the future holds? (Going down the Marvel angle - Ironman wears Urwerk and maybe there is some crossover with the EMC models with AP?)

I think these G-shocks are what it is, fun/practical.
I think they do not pretend to be what they are not, and for me they are great when at the gym, cycling, adventuring, or visiting dangerous locations. 😆
