That's a fantastic photo, Thomas!  It captures the romance of travel (Which in these days of heightened security and poor customer service, is all too often missing.), as well as the marvel of flight.  I take flying for granted and often grumble about traveling by plane, but when I take a step back and really think about it, I'm transported to the wonderment I felt as a child seeing my first airshow.  Flying is an amazing feat.

When I was four years old, I went on a very long flight. I remember being suspicious if flying was really something that was real; I suspected that somehow while I was spending 12 hours in the air, I really wasn't going very far and that the airplane was really a giant bus. Once I arrived at my destination, I was shocked to see the whole world was different, the sights, smells, temperature, etc. Keep in mind, I was four years old; my logic wasn't quite perfect yet and I was very suspicious growing up.

Today, I really find it surreal that humankind can drive, fly, and even go into outer space. It's amazing what we've achieved in such a short time.

Although the thought of flight and space travel is very impressive, I think it's been under-appreciated of late... Probably due to the fact that people fly every day now.

I think man is an incredible creature.  For all that is wrong with humankind (and we certainly have our issues), there is something amazing, resilient, and inventive about us, also.  Our thirst for knowledge and spirit of exploration have resulted in amazing marvels, not the least of which is the ability to fly.

thanks for your sensitive photo of how to have a stylish cup of tea 35.000 feet above the ground!

But besides all the cosiness your pic suggests (sunset above the clouds, teapot and cup, hot towel and orchid decoration), I feel it has a strong surreal touch, as the hominess is not real, but only pretended. You sit in a rapidly moving vehicle, probably chasing another appointment at a distant spot, surrounded by strangers, but the setting suggests you would be comfortably having your tea at home (o.k., the towel does not fit in the scheme ).

You get what I try to say?

Of course this is not to say to should drink a tasteless instant coffee in the company of a hideous plastic flower instead !
