How does AP compare to Patek Philippe when it comes to service down the road?
Will Audemars Piguet service a timepiece 50 or 100 years down the road? Are these truly heirloom timepieces? I just read a thread in Rolex regarding the Rolex Service Center's policy of not servicing certain vintage movements and was wondering if AP was similar.

I have confidence that AP will service...
...their watches 50 or 100 years from now. However, nobody can tell you with 100% accuracy that any of these companies, be it Patek, AP, or otherwise will be around 100 years from now. The world is an uncertain place, and nobody has a crystal ball. However, if there is a company that I would bet on being in existence throughout my lifetime and beyond -- and essentially I have made this bet since I bought an AP; it would be Audemars Piguet. It's one of the few manufactures that is still controlled by its founding families. It's a company that IMO is passionate about its history as a family business, and always looking to remain viable by investing in cutting edge materials science to improve the form and function of its watches, while still practicing and encouraging the execution of traditional watchmaking techniques.
The question of what makes a worthy heirloom for your family is a matter of your own preferences. I have no doubt that my AP will be handed down to my designated successor.

It's always a thought in the back of my mind and I'd read somewhere that the only person who can service a Goldfeil is the Vianney himself so what would you do when he retires..?

AP has and most likely will (I am being conservative here, I have no doubts)
service any watch they have ever produced, in the context of the original post / question.
This is the case with any "serious" brand that has any legitimacy - one of the reasons "the big three" are the big three, even though such terms and concepts seem to have fallen out of favour.
PP, VC, and AP have always had a policy of servicing anything they have ever produced, even if that means turning a new pivot.
