Who sees an incompatibility or an anomaly here?
The sailcloth strap is actually quite versatile. I think it befits any activity except sunbathing, swimming and diving.
But that’s my view. Curious to hear what others think.
What I mean is that the sailcloth, with its sobriety and quality, can be dressed up with formal attire.
On the other hand, after 16 years using them, I have observed that it deteriorates in the sun, sweat and salted water. For those activities, the nato is superb, and of course the steel/titanium/ceramic bracelet.
And the FF in all its variants except the most extreme large size specialities is fine to wear with a suit.
Again, in my view and experience.
Nothing incongruous, here. A touch of cool in a formal environment is great, in my opinion.

Wearing a dive watch on a neoprene-like strap with a suit is sexy but it doesn’t go as far as wearing sports shoes (which I find horrible taste, personally).
