Chopard

Found this in one of my late father's many many many folders of clipped articles. Combines two of his favourite things, clipping newspapers, and fast cars, and my favourite watch manufacturer, Chopard. Anyone any idea what the vintage rattrapante he's talking about might be?

One of the early Mille Miglia rattrapantes? Or possibly even a special Stirling Moss edition Chopard? What details can you make out from the article?

I think I've found both the gold and the steel Mille Miglia mentioned in the article.

Nice detective work, though slightly disappointed it's not an older watch.

black & white photo from your picture seems to be older than the ones I’ve found, so you might be right after all. It’s really hard to tell without more information.

"He does, however, admit to a spot of modification. "In those days cars were inclined to be fairly oily, so you'd get a lot of grease on it," he says. "I couldn't wash the leather straps, so I thought I'd make one from metal." He visited a jeweller in Monte Carlo. "Chopard didn't make bracelets then, as one downside was the requirement to correctly fit the piece to each person. The upside is it's a nice piece of jewellery." These days, he wears a steel Chopard for day, gold for night, both on bracelets."
