Previously, I posted some memories part 1: click here
Here is part 2.....

LUCeum

Lunar One

1860 L.U. Chopard watch

Gold Gold Gold! I can't live without gold.........

Very few true 'manufactures' actually smelt their own gold for the cases......Chopard and Rolex.

Hot Hot Hot!

There you are -- four kilos of abso-bloody-lutely wonderful gold!

Lets add it to the pile....

Swarf and machining 'waste'.....er...NOT. Will be worth a bob or two when recycled.

Patrick showing the spring-bar for the lugs of a 2010 novelty watch
It is their 150th Anniversary......oooh the stuff I could talk about....but they would have to shoot me. And all Swiss men are in the armed forces part-time...with guns!

Cheaper swarf and machining waste

Still, a few tons of waste metal will be valuable...remember Green Footprint.

Each year, the graduates of Chopard Watchmaking School sign the poster in all languages of their native coiuntries. I saw Asian languages too.

The Bee-Man himself. This is the chap who engraves 42 bees (or NOT) on the case backs of the top-end LUC watches. His range is 41 - 45 bees, with a mode of 42.

Thanks for watch-ing,
MTF
Geneva and its surroundings is a wealthy area.
Forget Monaco and St Tropez, the real wealth in Switzerland was built on watches, chocolate, drugs and banking....
Here is a Ferrari 599 Fiorano (Model F139) parked outside Chopard LUC manufacture when we visited (PuristS on Tour 2009).....

Patrick Wehrli looks good in it with the added luxury of a LUC Quattro watch in the shot.
We moved to the Fondation Qualite Fleurier, and there is another Ferrari parked outside!

This one had Mr Olivier Wieers (FQF Chief Tester) in it.
That's two shots of a F139 on the same day; what are the odds?

It's a small town -- Geneva -- could be only one dealer that everyone uses. Or it is the standard handbook they give out in Ferrari Yellow?
Then again, maybe we were being followed around as we were obviously a bus-load of watch fans......."Security! Stalker Alert...."
Actually, it was a fellow PuristS having a good time and we all took turns hitching a ride. Fun, huh? Although, in the rain, some preferred the relative safety of the comfy Mercedes luxury bus!
Regards,
MTF
