Chopard

I recently purchased my wife a Chopard La Vie en Rose Happy Diamonds watch. Unfortunately, I went back to the boutique and tried on the Tribute watch. I was more than impressed. The dial, case and movement are sublime. The finishing on the movement is very reminiscent of one hundred year old Vacherons and Patek pocket watches.

...I had the pleasure of strapping one on my wrist at IGOTT2.  I share your admiration for the watch. It is very handsome and nicely finished. What I like about it most is the connection to both the Scheufele and Chopard families.  As I recall, the mechanism that fastens the pocket watch was originally patented by an ancestor of Mr. Scheufele. That Chopard designed and executed the pocket watch movement in this watch for the Geneva Watchmaking School is also very cool.

As much as I admire it, I didn't consider owning one, but only because I don't see it fitting into my lifestyle.  I tend to wear every watch I own, and I can't see wearing this one much.

I disagree with your 12-step assessment, BTW.  You don't have a problem until you own it!  So go buy it first, then post lots of pictures, and then admit you have a problem!

I saw it in the window the Chopard shop at Place Vendome. The watch is to die for, to bad the shop was closed otherwise I might have been tempted to go try it on.

Seriously it looked wonderful and the craftsman's ship divine.

I love this watch too much.

I had the pleasure to try it on recently in Chopard boutique in Malaysia.

My initial concern is its size.  Surprisingly and strangely, it sits well on my wrist and very wearable.  It therefore eliminates my initial concern.

It has big chunk of gold and heavy.

The Tribute is a srtong representation by Chopard on its respect to the old craftmanship.  It is evident by its movement and the pocket watch element.

The only catch is - you need a deep pocket.  If this is not an issue, go for it.

This watch is really tempting... you really only have one issue. the brand. This is the sobering part of certain amazing watches by certain brands that just have no 'street cred' (Sorry!) I love the level of quality and beauty on Chopards. I owned a LUC Quattro and it was utterly superb through and through. I would hold its quality up to near-Lange level, if not equal.
