Breaking news: Burglary at Chopard Boutique Zurich!
This morning at around 10.45h Chopard's boutique at Zurich's prestigious Bahnhofstrasse fell victim to a burglary:
It was committed by two unknown armed criminals, one of them dressed in biking gear:
They used heavy tools to break the showcases and stole watches and jewellery worth far more than CHF 100.000. The material damage is considerable:
As far as I know no persons were hurt.

extremely sad news
It is very sad to hear of the loss that the company and the trauma that the people suffered...it is still a relief to know that no person was hurt..hopefully the criminals will meet justice soon.
I have noticed that a few times every year a major burglary takes place in jewellery/watch stores..it is a sad matter and I think needs to be taken very seriously in tems of beefed up security for these places..but then again, as a customer I know I will feel intimidated and un-comfortable in an over-protected place with too visible security..it is a tough call for the businessmen I can see.

This was a robbery as it was committed in view of the victim. Burglary is breaking and entering without the victim knowing.
It was also robbery with menace and thus 'armed robbery' .
I hope the Chopard employees and customers were not traumatised.
Having been in a London (Regent Street) jewellery & watch shop that was robbed while I was in the back room looking at watches, I know it was an unpleasant experience. A security guard was injured in the London job. I was uninjured but the experience remains........ as I am reminded today.

Why did they choose Chopard?
Perhaps, Chopard's products have better value and quality.

I wonder if it is one of those famous burglary gangs behind it. A la Pink Panthers or something like that.
Regardless of what gang is behind this crime, it's a good thing that nobody was hurt nor injured during this robbery. It's an unfortunate robbery, but thankfully it was not tragic.
