1946 Girard Perregaux Pocket Watch real? gold? fake?
Hi. I have found a girl whom is selling a Girard Perregaux Pocket Watch for $10. I am sure she has no idea about watches for she is young. She sent me photos of it and the back of the case says RRX (which i assume is initials of someone), and then down bottom it says Dec 1946. The front of the watch has gold numbers and hands and does say Girard Perregaux on it. The pictures she has are not very good for she only has a web cam. I have researched it and cannot find anything on this year or watch with a case such as this. Was it a US made case? I am just checking to see if anyone knows if it is REAL or FAKE and if it is gold or not? I did not want to ask her to open up the watch to read inside or to look to see if it stated 14k or such anywhere for then she may realize it is worth alot.

Why not just buy it and find out. I mean, it's $10! And how young is the vendor? I wouldn't feel comfortable buying on the cheap from a teenager. Could be her dad's or something anyway

Then paid what she asked for.
Don't put her in so much hassle for only $10.
It's like buying a lottery ticket. If it's GP, then you won, otherwise try again next week...

I gave her no hassle so? ? And I paid exactly what she wanted so. .. If you have an answer or advice great but seems you're one of those always being rude nosey people.

My brother picked it up today and it is a fake. It is a shell co made case and the dec 1946 clearly shows it is not a expensive or real Girard. Value 5-10$. Wasted trip. Oh well. If these pocket watches don't state kt etc.. Not real just plated. Thanks all.

I think the way you wrote your post put some of the members here off, which is unfortunate.
It may sound like you are "tricking" a young girl to sell something to you that might be worth 10 or 20 times more, which is not the Purists way of behaviour.

The photos included in your post is not good enough to tell if it is real, fake or "put together" watch.
