Omega

Hello,

I recently bought an Omega Seamaster 300 with a big triangle dial. According to the previous owner the original dial was replaced by a  NOS dial at some point.

I have taken the watch to the two local official Omega services, and it was checked by four different watchmakers, who had three different opinions on the dial...so I am really unsure about it....

I heard Omega sold NOS version of the "big triangle"  dial until a certain point, but I don't know when was it discountinued. Is it possible that they still applied the "T Swiss Made T" text on it, although the tritium was not used on the indexe's anymore? In the real life the indexe's look whiter than on my photos.

I guess if this is not a NOS dial than it is re-lumed or re-finished?

It looks like a relum but an original dial to me...  What have the others say?

I think it is a reprint and a relume.  The print on the dial doesn't look "heavy" enough for me and there are small subtle differences in the lettering particularly the seamaster script.

First off I agree on the relum.. But the dial it self looks very good.  The "heavyness " of the type , that can have slight variances over a run and on the rubber pad dial process used in printing these dials .

I guess we would have to ask Zsolt  to have the dial pull off the movement and look at theback of the dial for a repainting marks.

i wouldnt be over concerned as the dial looks good to me. not perfect, but good enough.

Just to be as certain as possible, I would take Bill's advise and inspect the reverse side of the dial.

I actually think it's the relume that makes the dial look abit suspect.

Would be nice to know the history/truth though.

I've just spent considerable time comparing your dial w/ mine ( which is a pristine original) They are Identical w/ the exception yours  has heavier lume which supports the mention that it's original w/ a re-lume....All in all a lovely dial.....Regards, Mike Cotter
