First off I have been looking for an example of this for many years !!!  This one is not in original condition... but it is what it is !!


Steel pocketwatch from the 1940s.....

i know the hands are a replacement and the dial was repainted.   The bow is a replacement....   But this watch is uncommon and special for a few reasons....

Does anyone care to guess ?   What do you think is special ?   The case is 45.5 mm in diameter.....

.. a 30mm SC movement on board.

There was a period that i was actively looking for a specimen at auctions, but it never showed up.  Understand that it was a Saoudi King who ordered a number of them at the factory in Bienne, to present to relations. Should be interesting to know whether this is original or a marriage.

I remember holding one in my hand about 20 years ago at the Miami watch show a dealer wanted back then over 2000 USD.   I thought that was way too much....  Who knew....

Well I was attracted to the watch two reasons.... Sweep Seconds and it was powered by a 30T2SC .....

It looks like the case was made for it Ben..

Last but not least a catalog entry for this timepiece...




As per catalog its 45.5 mm in diameter...  Now I need to find a steel bow.... might have to get one fabricated !  Anyone have a spare dial , long hands ?

Well done !   The dial does not look too bad at all, i could live with that..

Long stick hands and the U-form bow would certainly enhance the piece enormously, as the catalog-picture looks absolutely lovely with it's art-deco characteristics. The case will be fully original no doubt. A rare item!

lets hope that you can source the correct hands and even the dial to make it original. it looks good as it is though.
