i went to visit my Parents for Christmas .and thought to Share with you some Pictures i took of the City.

i love Small Streets .!

 

 

me in Time Square .. we call it the CLOCK SQUARE.

there was suppose to be a New Constructions in here , but while Digging up the Ground  they found some Ruins

some Stone Beams were Ressurrected to Mimic what this Ancient City looked like a Few Thousand Years ago.  (Green Arrow on the Left side

I never thought Beirut is so beautiful! My perception of Lebanon is a war torn country fulls of crumbling building.

unfortunately, it was totally Destroyed during the Civil Was but was re-built in the late 1990ies but STILL re-storing and Constructing to date.

 

... looks like you were up for early shopping, not much people in the streets

i got there early in the Morning. . there was a lot of Traffic on the Main Street but Shops wer still closed .

My watchmaker grew up there and cut his teeth working on Rolex, Omega and others.
We were talking recently about how I thought the climate in Southern California was great, but he said that you have warm ocean water most of the year and incredible mountains and skiing only an hour away. You could ski and swim in warm water in the same day. Our water's a little chillier...

2 very Different Climates in 2 Different Places at the Same Time.. Crazy that is.!

My father spent a lot of time in the Middle East for business, and I regret now that I did not take more opportunities to travel there with him.  Your photos really capture the charm of the old city, as well as the integration of the modern structures and storefronts.  Downtown Beirut is certainly on my list of places to visit now!

Never been to Beirut nor Lebanon. Hope to visit the Middle East extensively someday.

Thanks for the introduction, Beirut certainly does have amusing architecture and I like how they blend the old with the new.

 the Architecture is quite Interesting.

 when they rebuilt the City, they tried to KEEP the Original Building Design as it was many Years ago. but then you also see many Modern Buildings in the Mix.

 

That's a place you don't see frequently on the tourists maps. Very beautiful, thks for sharing
