I can dream of other variations of the Senator Chronometer. I wonder how a black dial version with numerals and a brushed titanium case would look. Or maybe how dropping the date might change the overall appearance.
But there is really nothing to change on this model. it is a modern execution of a classic watch, one that will never be out of style. Yes, I would prefer it with a brushed caseband, like the new blue dial model has, but the slow weathering of a white gold case over time does not offend me.
I'll always commend Glashutte for making this watch. I don't believe they offer a more complete timepiece.

I am a great admirer of Glashutte Original's perpetual calendar watches. I'm not certain how they succeed in making their perpetual calendar dials seemingly more legible than other brands do, but they have a simplicity I tend to appreciate. One day, it would be great to add one.

I first thought I would have preferred it without date, BUT...
I am now used to see it with the date, a grande date, moreover.

The date has never bothered me. Can I imagine it without? Yes. But certainly it was/is not a deal breaker for me.
That time setting complication
Not sure if it actually counts as a complication, but setting the time on one is such a great experience and feels so right.
For me steel case (hey I am practical) and black or white dial would be perfect. For my wrist 2mm smaller would also work but this is a beast of a movement I am not sure it would fit.

But technically. Glashutte Original has gone above and beyond with the time setting mechanism.

A bit out of my league ;-) But honestly, not unfair for what you get. Then again, considering Andrew L's awesome recent article, we are talking an extra 73K for a platinum case and ship's chronometer. Steep premium, but for 13 lucky owners, why not.

Even after consideration I found it to be way too high...waiting patiently that one day it would appear in auction at my target price ... the high gloss dial on the pt casing is to die for ...

The classic Chronometer and its brother, the Regulator, are two watches that I have admired for years...

I'm not usually a fan of Roman numerals on a watch but they just work here. Great design.

Generally, I prefer arabic numerals, but on this GO they are a hit.

"Most complete G.O. timepiece" hits the nail on the head. There may be more glamorous designs like the Pano line (especially the PanoInverse) or more complex ones. But if you ask the people at G.O. They will not hesitate to tell you that the Chronometer is the DNA of the brand.
This is easily perceived once one puts it on his wrist. And this is the thing that IMHO the blue dialed, more fashionable, version is lacking. The blue one has a great dial but to me it does not convey this feeling of having an encounter with the history and the present of watchmaking that the white dialled versions give.

At 2 different locations in Las Vegas. I did not get any snaps, but I do have impressions.
I like it, but nowhere near as much as my white dial. The blue dial has a much different character. The only thing about it I prefer is the brushed case sidewalls (and those are rather subtle in person, the brushing is very fine). Aside from the dial color, it is easy to overlook the new model's thinner bezel (wider dial) and standard strap attachment. I prefer both aspects of the older models - the thicker, more robust bezel, and the integrated strap.
Different strokes for different folks... the white dial model in white gold remains the version for me
