Travelling from one place to another by airplane, especially to a destination far away, has always confused my a little. I think this is because when one leaves an airplane in a foreign and very different location, like Africa for example, one steps from one continent, climate and culture into very different ones within a second. It always takes me a while to realize where I am and how I got there.

So I tried something different and went from Great Britain to the United States by ship. And indeed it was very different. For five days I was able to take my time and watch the waves pass by. And how could one cherish such an time centered occasion better that with a decent mechanical watch?
So my G.O. (and two others) accompanied my on the voyage and the Sport Evo - like me - took the chance to just hang out in style:

thanks for your travel impressions and the marvellous photo of your watch next to a QM II bell!

I remember reading an article about someone who intentionally  did the same as you: to slow the distance and to allow body and mind to accomodate. In a world where one of our modern idols is speed at any cost, this requires a clear mindset to do different. Very impressive what you did - Í´d also like a lot to do the transatlantic passage with the QM II one day.

How was the crossing?  The QE II seems like a nice, slow, luxurious way to travel!  I like your photo very much!  The picture of your GO with the ship's bell is wonderful and whimsical.

Been trying to get around to doing this transatlantic crossing for many years, back when it was still conducted by the QE2.

Please tell us about the voyage when you get a chance!
