Hi good morning GO fans,
I am thrilled about all the new models GO is coming out with, the Chronometer, the Pocket Repeater, and now the Regulator...
Meanwhile, I am running into some trouble with the setting of my newly acquired Senator Perpetual Cal 39. What happened was midnight last night, it turned into November 1st, not October 31st. At the end of last month (September), it jumped into September 31st, instead of October 1st. So I thought the month, day, and date must have been messed up, that someone before me must have pushed those setting pins randomly. So anyways, I tried to hand wind the watch to see which month it exactly is by observing the date it will change the month. Since there are only supposed to be two consecutive 31 day months (July and August, and December and January). The best of course is if I could find a Leap year Feb with 29 days, then I am all set. But you can imagine, it is going to be a long journey hand winding the watch.
So I did some winding, but later in early October decided to take it to AD for the watchmakers to adjust it for me. The guy came out quickly told me it is all set so I started to wear it again. But it is not handling Oct 31st right. So apparently the AD guy did was push those button holes to have the correct day dates showing for that day, nothing about the inner workings of a sophisticated Perpetual.
Any better ideas? Other than sending it back to Glashutte? I mean can I adjusted it myself by my earlier methodology, winding it until I find the Leap Feb? Please let me know how I can be sure it is synchronized correctly so I don't ever have to worry about the dates again...it is what a Perpetual should do, isn't it?
Thank you all so much!
Hi Martin,
Thanks very much for your kind words! I am sure I'll get the help soon. This forum is one of the best I have seen on the internet, people are so nice!
And yes what a weekend for Glashutte Original!
Cheers,
Hi all, just wanted to update that Art has been so kind to take his time speaking with me about the issue.
It is in good hands now.
Thank you all for offering help!
Thanks again, Art! The watch is still under AD warranty, so directly or indirectly, hopefully it would allow GO experts to take a look and have it fixed.
Cheers,
your watch showed Sep 31 where it shouldn't have and skipped Oct 31st seems to indicate an inherent problem w/ the mechanism. In case you haven't done so, I woud strongly advise you to send the watch back to factory accompanied by a letter detailing the problem. I've had similar problem w/ my Navigator Perpetual and it wasn't fixed until a second trip to the factory and myself ON THE PHONE w/ them the problem was finally fixed.
It can easily 'appeared' to be fixed without a real thorough test and the real problem often get lost in the chains of communications.
Apology for the late reply and I'm sure Art had already given you plenty of good advices.
Thanks for your advice! I'll definitely follow up with timely clear communication. Art basically guided me through the whole process, and I have had both Glashutted and AD people aware of what was going on. Hopefully GO will be able to get their hands on the watch and perform a thorough inspection and return it to the original state.
Really appreciate your help!
Cheers,
