... to find the right strap for the watch...
Ever since I got my Senator perpetual with anthracit dial I struggle with this - the OEM light cognac strap with white stitching does not even qualify as a second or third choice, imho.
I tried a dark cognac gator, a dark burgundy brown gator, but both did not really support the beauty of the grey dial - which tends a notch into brown, so the all time favorite black gator is also not an option :-(
I saw Art's Karree with grey dial on a "greenish" lizard strap - and I like that combination a lot, but to find that absolute right color is nearly impossible.
Today I may have gotten a significant step further - I found a semi gloss mocca gator, which not only works well with the dial but also with the polished case ( I beg your pardon for the crappy pics):
What do you think? Did you ever struggle with finding the right strap, especially with extraordinary dial colors like blue, brown or.. grey?
cheers
Henrik
I enjoyed Panerais and the strap changing habit for many years - nowadays I play that game with my Fifty Fathoms and Air Command

Henrik

... and I tried a matte black with light grey stitching - acceptable, but not quite it ...
cheers

Several companies pair dark brown straps with WG/anthracite.
Craig
Nicolas, that would have been my first theoretic choice as well, but the dial is a little like a chameleon, depending on light conditions it varies between a darker clear grey and a lighter brownish grey - I had the same issue on a Blancpain with havanna brown dial, and I never succeeded on that one :-(
Best,
Henrik

Hi, Art!
Pumpkin soap works wonders for leather goods! Maybe a good cleaning is all your unique strap requires?
I have never tried it on exotic leathers, but I assume the result will be quite similar from my experience with calfskin sneakers or casual shoes.
Just my two cents worth of good housekeeping advice
Best regards,
Alex
Love it. The brown really goes with the grey color. And if you are ever tired of it, you may want to try a grey leather strap. Breguet makes these nice leather straps in "sanded" matte finish. May go well too.
All the best..!
i think Geo has a grey dialled Star wheel with a grey stingray strap. that might work as it isnt a flat surface so will look different in different lighting as the dial does.
i'm a real strapaholic and think the right strap is almost as important as the watch.
good luck with your search.
