I'd always liked the Submersibles so much but didn't feel like they made any sense on my wrist until the 42mm Sub came along. I love wearing it but I'm starting to wonder if the proper 44mm ones might be doable for me after all...

I completely agree
I sold my previous 243 to a good friend several years ago and have missed it ever since. However very recently I rectified this and am happy to have a 243 back in the watch box.
