Officine Panerai

You all know that, with Panerai, I'm an old guy, with basic tastes, so don't wait nor hope from me to show you the Ferrari Line nor the Chrono 8 or 10 Days Power Reserve, nor the Tourbillon.

For me, these designs or complications deserve a new case, not the Rad, nor the Luminor Case...

So, this year, the choice is simple...I only saw 4 watches which correspond to my biased view of Panerai...

The 1st one is of course the Pam 192, Radiomir Blackseal ...

I wouldn't be happy if I had ordered a Pam 292 with the Maiale, to see that the new model is WITHOUT Maiale, which I personnaly find being a better choice...
But there are again too many writings on the dial....I never understood the meaning of " Black Seal " on a radiomir dial...
On the other side, the ceramic case in nice...So, the watch for me is " so so"...



Then the Pam 26...

Another problem...
The watch, a Luminor 44mm destro case, is nice, of course...But why calling it Pam 26, as the original watch???
Again, I don't understand, but again, the watch is nice, with a coherent historical look, which respects the roots of the brand...







And the winners, IMHO, the Rad Pam 309 ( Black Dial ), and 322 ( Brown Dial )...
Winners, yes, of course, as they are very nice, conform to the Hisotry of Panerai, in their design, and in the fact that they use a reliable and nice movement, the Minerva, but... THE PRICE... 18 000 Euros...Wowowowowowowow, I think that even if I'm sure that Panerai will sell them, the price is way too high for this kind of watch...The price of a Nautilus 5712 from Patek Philippe...

The real problem is that these 2 beasts are really appealing!

Indeed, the movement + the brown dial + the titanium case makes this watch very appealing, desirable.
Really love it, even if I don't love the price....

And on the wrist, as percet than comfortable to wear...
A winner!



But the price makes me doubt a lot...

I now think that 322 and 309 will be winners, even if I prefer the 322. WOW!!!!

I wish to have them in hands to really appreciate.

We won't see them before the beginning of next year, but yes, this is a piece to see....

As I said,the combo Titanium/Brown dial/ Minerva is to think about as the watch is very appealing

Any idea about the availability ? Can you order one are are the already sold out several times ??

Thanks for your report Nicolas, interesting to hear your opinion on Rads, most others have been very negative. I'm glad to hear that your opinion was positive re the 26. I have joined the list and hope to make it my second PAM after my 233.

I think they will be snapped up since they are made in very limited quantities and unique from the rest of the PAMs so far. If price of the Fiddy is priced a few grand less than this piece in the pre-owned market, these pieces with Minerva movements looks more `reasonable` then, imho..

The movement is very `seductive`

never thought about it this way, but you have a good point

25K usd for a 47 mm 1950 (LE 1950 pce) with unitas movement or about the same amount for a 47 mm radiomir (LE 150 pce) ... in that case one of the 150 Rads looks the most obvious choice

322 but thinks that its way too pricey

just my 2 cent.

anyway, i try my best to get 26 even I have 26B in my safe. ;0)

I, myself, don't fall for the Panerai's SIHH release. The 26 hit me only by its listed price and the 322 hit me only by its look. I feel like an old guy who keep worship to the old models and start to think that the new pieces are out of reach. What I can do now is open my vault, take my existing Panerais out and enjoy my same old collection.

By the way, keep sharing your Pre-Vs and other great pieces in your collection as they will keep me fresh.

Thanks for the great report. Frankly, i'm not so excited about the new releases ...... maybe because i'm a HISTORIC guy. However, i like the destro pvd but i'd prefer the original 26 with painted dial (be it Tritium or Luminova). 

I have to say after seeing Asi's 292 and now seeing the 'pig' at 6 removed it is really growing on me..!!  But a long wait to get one.

Was Emanuella the lady I met in Paris..??

I'm glad I put your eyes on these titanium Rads.

The 322 is really a killer IMO.

Of course the price puts her out of my reach ,but I hope to see next year a new 210 in titanium with a plain back! Little hope I know.

The 322 could be my perfect  (first and only) Panerai.....

Apparently it won't be! (the 210 won't be either as I want a titanium Rad now).
