I've read from other guys who had the same issue!!. Honestly I don't believe them till I had the same experience.

Ok, last month I've contacted a Panerai US Boutique to order the new Pam590 (to be delivered to US address). Last week I got email from the same boutique telling me that this reference is exclusive to US market (Ok I know that) and they'll be able to sell it ONLY if it is accompanied by another Panerai watch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

I think this is totally wrong marketing way!!. Why should I get something I don't need it while you'll give me the original item in full price.

I immediately cancel the whole idea as I don’t see or hear that any other brand did the same.

IMHO, these bad marketing/selling ways brought the brand to the basement level!!!!.

Forgive me but I’ve a message to Panerai Management: Guys, are you suffering from the very drop-off your brand to force buyers to buy unneeded watch to get what they want??!!

My favorite brand ,but how does 1 expect loyalty when shenanigans like this are being played out. I've never heard of such marketing & frankly disgusted to hear such bad behavior concerning OP.

book the watch? If I were Panerai and decided to..LIMIT..the distribution of a particular model, to a specific geographical area, I would be weary of bookings NOT received from physical residents of said area. Having said that, I believe that whatever Panerai wants to do, they...can...do. What the public..can..do is NOT to buy their products, isn't it?

And FYI, the boutique that I've called did not even asked me about my residence place.

get the appropriate e-mail address and would send a nice message..exposing..the boutique involved. But that's me and I believe that "venting" doesn't solve problems

As these instructions came from PANERAI to their worldwide boutiques!!!!!. Again this bad strategy brought the brand to lower level (no regret)!!!!.

I've heard that a member of a watch forum in Korea purchased two 590s in NY boutique recently.

I don't think that ridiculous policy comes from HQ directly rather it is likely boutique manager's decision.

The boutique wanted me to buy a Tourbilion In order to qualify for a bronzo. Silly concept and marketing and I agree really tarnishing the image of the brand ..

That sucks if they're making people buy another Panerai if you want to get a PAM590.

I guess the PAM590 is such a hot piece that it's sort of like buying a stainless steel Rolex Daytona at an AD.  I don't know how it is now, but AD's used to make you buy another Rolex if you wanted to buy a SS Daytona.

Years ago, my friend, a Patek AD, would require you buy a 2nd watch if he deigned to sell you a 5970 or something of that level. Now he discounts 5270's. But my point is, eventually they all come down to earth. I find this sort of practice repellant and in very bad spirit.  But the gent is still my friend...I guess what I mean to say is, they do it while they can.   This message has been edited by Mostel on 2014-08-01 20:24:32
