Yet Another 'Annual Limited Edition' Watch From Richemont? Why So Soon?

 By: enjoythemusic : October 25th, 2021-15:38
Nice new timepieces and looks like Richemont's marketing department is now in full overdrive with 'annual limited editions'. Last week it was unobtanium (all pre-sold) IWC Hot Wheels edition (with five extra Hot Wheels model cars being given away free on Instagram. Richemont's PR department might want to correct their press release about that BTW). Richemont's Panerai brand has bronze 'annual limited editions'.

What other recent 'limited edition' timepieces has Richemont released in the past few months? i may have missed a few and appreciate any help completing their products. Am glad to see IWC maximizing their ability to take advantage of today's market and hope this helps raise their used watch pricing.

Aside from the Limited Production and Limited Edition aspect of these two...

How do feel about the watches themselves? Here are some reviews:

They're Cool

After a few decades as an enthusiast, I guess it takes more to impress me. The bracelet is nice. This is something I wish Tudor offered with their METAS-certified Black Bay Ceramic I have here. Richemont has been great with easy strap / bracelet change for various brands, bravo! The manual WT bezel smartly keeps the manufacturing reliability up and movement production cost down as compared to an inner mech like others use.

PS: Seems interesting to have so very many 'limited production' pieces. Aren't all timepieces limited editions of sorts? It's not like any Richemont-owned brand can pop out a few million units a year unless they scale up. Apologies if i sound a bit grouchy, yet their PR can get a bit much week after week after week being the same strategy. Mix it up a bit PR folks, thx smile

I like the BP PPC and its bracelet

I tried it during a preview this summer. It’s very comfortable to wear. The bracelet has a system in the clasp to increase the size by half a link. Useful in hot weather. Initially I was not convinced aesthetically because the links are rather thin when compared to the case size. But once on the wrist, it works. I like it.

The timezoner has less appeal to me, purely because of the functionality that is all.

I like as well the split second released about a year ago. This is in balance with the tribute to 3705 and an up coming pilot 41mm chrono as a new addition to my collection.
If only the 3705 had a display case back!

One of these 3 could be my daily beater for a long while.

Cheers

I'm surprised at how good the bracelet looks

If you'd asked me, "Should IWC put a bracelet on the Big Pilot?" I'd have said, "No, that's going to look all wrong." But this one looks pretty right to me!

Do we know how exactly Ceratanium is made?

EDIT - I see, it is an allow metal which is milled and shaped like normal metal and then baked in an oven like normal ceramic.  I like the bracelet model very much, but I bet it's mega $$$ --- Is it baked at high temperatures or is metal coated with ceramics or maybe ceramic powder is mixed with metal and melted?  Really curious.

Maybe this tells it:

That’s interesting, so the skin of the material, when baked, becomes like a ceramic coating. They used a..

Loaf of bread reference in another article, the crust of the bread when baked is like the ceramic hardening of the top of the material.

I do wonder if they did drop tests and if the naked top can come off or not, I would love to see it in person..

The Ceratanium strap does look good

Love the display case backs on these. I wonder if the strap will be made available separately for the other Ceratanium cased watches? Apparently, it’s a difficult material to work with, hence expense, but so far my Top Gun Ceratanium remains scratch free after 6 months.

While many have opined that black watches are out, I am still drawn to mine. The scratch resistance and cool looks never get old for me. Not sure I’m a fan of the BP on bracelet, but cool it’s offered. One can always easily add a strap.

I really like the blacked out look of the Timezoner 👍
