I still can't believe it - a masterpiece of watchmaking. And incredibly beautiful.
Today at 5:41 p.m., I was able to put the IWC Eternal Calendar on my hand for the first time.
That was less than two hours ago. Here are the first quick shots:
Because the dial is made of so much glass and white lacquer, it's not easy to take good photos in artificial light. I'll keep trying in daylight.

I don't have a scale to put the watch on, but to my mind, it weighs about the same as my IWC Minute Repeater in platinum,
but feels definitely lighter than an earlier Portugieser Platinum model I was interested in a few years ago.
I really liked that one back then, but ultimately it was far too heavy and too bulky for me.
The Eternal is significantly lighter and more wearable. I think that's also because it uses a lot more glass and the case seems thinner.

Why ETERNAL calendar rather than perpetual? Are you meant to be buried with it?
What's new, I asked myself:
Calendar Architecture seems similar to the perpetual exc for the longer power reserve from the IWC new generation movement. Better arrangement of the century slide means no changing every few 100 years.
They take off center seconds hand (it's on the 9 subdial) remove chrono counters, remove pushers, change moon display, put 7-8 day tractor motor underneath, add domed crystal, make platinum case, add all new moon mechanism, add refined calendar, etc. etc.
At the end of the day it’s an emotional decision!
I simply love this watch. The design, the architecture, the philosophy. The idea of eternity.
And I appreciate your perpetual calendar very much for its great design and practicality. I have always read your posts about this watch with great interest.
