Rolex

Suggestion: A Black slightly fading to grey insert, no gilt graduation. Lollipop second hand, and all is good for me. I am in! [nt]

A man of serious taste, as usual

I’d be in

What if

We add full minute/second military ring like 5517?

Is there a vintage Tudor Sub that had the full minute markers on the bezel?

 By: Joepny : March 25th, 2018-07:34
I don’t know vintage Tudor subs 792x that well. You other PuristS definitely know more than me.

I think the 15-minute markings on the bezel has been standard with Tudor vintage for a long time though, so it makes sense the way it is with the Black Bay 58 bezel. Or take the minute markings away completely like Nico proposed because that would be how the first Tudor Sub 7922 (I think?) looked.

No marking would be very clean

Perfect

No lollipop unless it gets Mercedes hour hand

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : March 26th, 2018-12:07
But why change this hand lay out? IMO it should be left the way it is.

The Black Bay is a strange mix-match

 By: Joepny : March 26th, 2018-12:49
I think the circular hour markers are taken from the 1950's Tudor submariners which were using parts from Rolex and those also used the Rolex Mercedes hour hand/lollipop seconds hands for the most part. There was an exception with pencil hands.
The snowflake hands are taken from late 1960's-1970's Tudor submariners, but those vintage watches used square hour markers.
I think it's clear modern Tudor has decided to use the snowflake hands as their brand identifier and to make a distinction from Rolex. Tudor is no longer the poor man's Rolex. They have created their own identity IMO. Although the new Tudor GMT is too close to the Rolex Pepsi GMT, so Tudor has fudged it a little. I think Nico knows a lot of Tudor history so he can set the record straight.

It is the rasion d'ĂŞtre of the Tudor Black Bay. It has always been a compilation of Tudor Submariners. [nt]

The snowflake hands are a good design call.

 By: Arie - Mr Orange : March 26th, 2018-12:55
And just like you said the snowflakes will be the big brand identifier clearly separating it from Rolex.

Oh Thank You!

I suggested the Mercedes hour hand and lollipop second hand too! The standard "pencil" hands will work with the lollipop second hand. But the snowflake hour hand won't work with the lollipop second hand.

I back up this suggestion Nico!

It would look stunning!

Cheers!

Remember this one for the Italian market ? Please try again ❤

yes the Orologi & Passioni one

 By: Joepny : March 24th, 2018-03:58
I liked it. I’m not Italian though and Tudor has no great legacy in Italy so the wording in Italian is a novelty.

Hi M@ster. Please check your PM! [nt]

That's nice!

 By: patrick_y : April 4th, 2018-01:35
But we need to do something different!
And I'm dying for the lollipop second hand, which looks better with a hand that isn't the snowflake hour hand.

I guess having a curved script on the bottom..

A la “self winding” won’t make sense on this iteration. I find that touch particularly romantic along with the rose sad

there is the original Tudor rose logo inside the shield

 By: Joepny : March 24th, 2018-04:08
I don’t think Tudor has ever printed it again in modern times.
this would be even cooler.

That font!

That would perfect . [nt]

without the rose
They must keep this for the eta movements, keep this unique for these pieces
Give these eta rose pieces the chance to get special and collectible overtime

That aside.... I’m interested

On the other hand... I wish Tudor would not accept all these special request... too many of these offerings makes them mainstream and cheap. Rolex doesn’t make editions for forums, shops, .... Tudor shouldn’t Imo too

well I think Tudor’s revitalization started about 6-7? years ago

 By: Joepny : March 24th, 2018-04:30
It has not been long that Tudor came back to the world with very good modern watches. So I think all these “special edition” watches with retailers & enthusiast communities have been part of their strategy to build their business. I am sure it will become less common as their modern business matures. Strike while the iron is hot!!!
