The one and only 16808 transitional model traverses across from vintage to modern perfectly keeping the nipple dial and introducing the sapphire crystal. A beach watch that always makes me smile and warm inside.

Bling is so much harder to wear these days but 20 years ago it wasn’t such a problem.

It was in the UK. I spoke to the AD after buying the watch.
And they remembered the watch well. It now has duplicate paper works because it was in stock so long that they lost the papers for it. Incredible to think. Wouldn’t happen these days.

They messed a bit with the papers, at that time. I have an Explorer 6610 with box and papers, but the papers don't match with the case number. Funny. [nt]

I had my lots too!
Back in the 80's tilled 90's some ADs were not rigorous about matching sets,
and of course they did not anticipate the later phenomenon and obsession of the Rolex full set.
To good guys always pay for the few bad guys...
In the mid 90's it was difficult but doable to get Rolex re-issuing the right certificate
but of course after being abused and to prevent fraudulent market they halted this courtesy.

In the mid 70s and up to the 90s this one was the it watch. In. The wr was no fluke and because it was sporty.
And a luxury because of the yellow gold. Definitely a statement watch. Glad you are enjoying it. This icon of a Submariner. 😎 👍
