Time to step back a few years. One from the back catalogue today. Worthy of more attention than some of today’s coloured dials I think.

Including more than one in that super hype category.
It can also look more powdery blue in some light.
It’s subtle, which is nice. But also not a “basic” blue which is nice too.

Since about 07-08 I’d thought about buying a vintage President.
At the time I was looking at yellow and red gold as they were available in abundance. The one that really caught my interest was the onyx dial, which at the time were pretty reasonable in terms of price.
My hesitation was the question of whether or not I’d ever wear a coloured gold Rolex (head only on a strap maybe, but gold bracelet too then not so sure).
It took me about 5-6 year to reach the conclusion that most likely I wouldn’t really wear it and so then I switched the search to a white gold President. That is how I ended up here.

I still find myself looking at the Onyx President, mostly yellow gold but there are some white gold with Oynx dials out there too and they are pretty stunning.
Hmm. I've only seen the yellow gold ones! Didn't know that a white gold version existed with an Onyx dial.

The white gold would appear to be extremely rare, similarly the white gold President with other stone dials (lapis etc).
And Day Dates / Presidents are also not the watches one sees much on forums, social media etc. How many vintage Presidents do we see shared here? A handful. There’s surely more among this group I would think, but we don’t see them. It’s hard to say these are underrated as prices climbed considerably for vintage Presidents in the last several years, but they definitely do not seem to garner anywhere near the attention they should.
At 36mm, with the satisfying weight of precious metals, interesting dials if you search around and a classic and versatile look they are close on the perfect watch. Maybe ! 😆

I like the brushed lugs on your example better than
the polished lugs on newer iterations. Nice watch.
