Rolex

The dial reminds me of Lamborghini cars (they seem to have a hexagon motif), Lalique's Tortue vase, and turtle/tortoise shell patterns.
Someone above mentioned "Space Dweller" which is in theory similar to "Astro Dweller" and I suggested that would have to be a new line of manual wind watches (since there's no gravity to keep an automatic watch consistently wound).

For those of us who are OQ lovers, this new model is like the rebirth of an excellent design, however you want to link it, be it a 1630, 5100, or 17013, it's all the same to me, and now with a new caliber for Rolex, curiously for the same reason that the Texan and the 17013 were discontinued due to quartz and today it returns renewed and with an incomparable caliber, simply excellent, and as for the name, honestly, I don't care, they can call it whatever Rolex wants, this model brings its own personality

With Sea Dweller and Sky Dweller, the names have an aspirational quality to them because humans don't "dwell" in the sea or in the sky. Very few humans reside, in any significant way, in the air or in the sea. Being able to do so suggests you are a person who is living at the frontier as an explorer.
A land dweller is just the status-quo. It lacks the aspirational quality that is present through-out most of Rolex's line-up. Day-Date also lacks an aspirational quality, but Rolex is quick to let you know about the President Bracelet and the list of notable people who have worn one. Datejust is also lacking an aspirational name, but I think it is a bit different because Land Dweller is describing a person (presumably the wearer) whereas Datejust is describing a watch.
I get the Sea, Sky, Land, (Space...) naming theme, but I think something like Terra Dweller might've been better. Field Dweller would've been great other than this is clearly not a field watch!
However, because it is a Rolex, I am sure in a few weeks it will develop an American pop-culture-based nickname and it will only be rarely referenced by the Land Dweller name.

You bring up a good point there! So... This is for us couch potato dwellers! And not for people who live in skyscrapers - this is for ground floor people! (joking).
You brought up another good point; the gold and platinum versions don't have the day complication.... That does seem to be a BIG MISS!

I agree with you, as it would harmonize more with the concept of the four elements.
Earth, water, air, and fire: these are the four elements of nature, which have been associated with different aspects of life and personality. These elements represent the energies that connect human beings. I imagine that's where the meaning of these names and the conquest of these elements lies
Do you remember that in the 70s-80s there were the cases called "hexagonal" Vacheron, Audemars, IWC, and PP Nautilus, OQ Rolex, all of them with their own personality, Vacheron now revived its legendary model 222 now in an automatic version (it was quartz at that time) and today Rolex revives that hexagonal model and with an unbeatable caliber, it is the first caliber in 36,000 Rolex alternations, since all Rolex calibers are 28800 it is believed that at this speed the balance wheel maintains minimal wear and constant precision for much longer without service, the only caliber that was 36,000 alternations was that of Zenith, caliber that Zenith gave to Rolex in the past for its Daytona but Rolex modified it and lowered it to 28800 when installed in its Daytonas,
personally I see here a reaffirmation of its position, when I saw For the first time, the OQ came with a quartz caliber that was unsurpassed at the time, very beautiful and elegant but also very precise (-4 +5 sec. per year maximum) but the ones I still have give me +2 per year which is extremely precise for what they are. At that time, the other prestigious quartz brands were very behind, mostly using the famous B21 calibers (by the way, very cheap and common to see in my opinion). Today the hexagonal case returns and once again with a new and revolutionary caliber for the house, so I think it once again reaffirms that it is the first to bring something new to its hexagon as in the past with its OQ.

Yes, all those Genta watches had some hexagon or octagon mixed into them!  

I think it's great. Although personally, I have never been a Jubilee bracelet fan and I'll wait for a non jubilee bracelet version. But yes, it's absolutely great! The 7135 movement is the most advanced movement in the world!  still, the name bothers me.  What on Earth is a Land Dweller?

The hexagons on the dial remind me of a tortoise's shell.  Tortoises are land dwellers, they don't fly, they don't swim, they don't even climb trees!  

But then I'm not really a big Rolex fan and as names go I think Rolex may have been better off calling this the Air Breather as a follow on from their Air King.

Aqua Lung on Blancpain was supposedly a swimming watch.

I first thought you were jesting. But seemingly not. At least it seems they have learned to protect the model name appropriately, unlike some other Swiss watch brands in the past 😉

I find my German friends have the best senses of humor! Which other names were you thinking of? Sea Slug was mentioned - and that is a terrible name for a dive watch!

The time not spent on finding a name was invested in the movement design 😉🤞🏻

Since I find the name completely strange and I find the movement completely wonderful!

Finally someone who isn't beholden to the integrated bracelet craze. I admittedly like integrated bracelets. I might have to repent for my sins! I just like neat and orderly bracelet/strap to case attachments. So curved spring bars get extra points from me.

What is a land-dweller? Rolex seems to answer: someone like Roger Federer or Yuja Wang: a retired but still very active tennis player and a young and also very active piano player...
