Rolex

I just got a call from an AD that they would have a Milgauss for me by the end of this week. I have yet to see the piece in person and would really appreciate any advice/opinions that all of you have on this watch. I believe the piece they are receiving is a black dial. Thanks in advance.

though it seems to bring mixed opinions.  My favorite modern Rolex--simple with an elegant flair in black dial, and great fitting hefty case.

Hi there, i was fortunate enough to acquire a milgauss GV at the list price. Here are my opinions:

1. Very Very refreshing! It's been a while since Rolex came up with such a 'modern' and 'young' design. It's a great shift away from the traditional watches they have. The lightnig bolt secod hand with the orange hour indicators at 3, 6, 9 makes it very appealing, especially for the younger collectors. It seems perfect to be worn by a 20 yrs old gentleman or a 55yr old executive, Unlike Rolex presidents and datejusts which are for the older generation.

2. However, i would say it's slightly over-rated? The pictures look fantastic, especially when the green crystal is captured perfectly. However, when i do take it out of my box, it's not as obvious, and stunning as in the pictures. However, i believe under stong sunlight or spotlight, it results the watch being very attractive. But what irks me is that the wach dosen't have a date!!! for most Rolex sports/oyster models,there's usually a date, but the milgauss don't have, which is quite inconvenient at times.

3. Collecting point of view? The watch seems reasonably priced? Slightly below 10K, but sturdy and well made! Compare it to a panerai and i would still say a rolex is better built, and have a much more reasonable and pragmatic list price.  It seems like the milgauss GV is going to be the NEXT big thing in terms of payoff? However, with people buying it just to earn a quick capital investment, i guess it defeats the purpose of buying the watch... because, i belive that you should buy it as you like it, and woul not hesitate to wear it!

In a nutshell, if i were you, i'll just give it a go and see how it looks on your wrist. Let us know your decision!!!

This is a great delirium Rolex made with this watch.

A true classic model with the black or the white dial, and a lot of fun with the green sapphire, these orange and white indexes, and this lightning second hand, without forgetting this gorgeous matt dial.

The funny thing is that I didn't love this watch when I saw it in pics, and when my AD called me to say that she had a little surprise for me, she presented me the Green Milgauss...

It was, in the lfesh, a real nice surprise.

No date, but it gives to the watch a better balanced dial and purity, too.

The only better Milgauss I know is the Vintage 1019, but the price is mad, while this new one can be picked at a very more reasonnable price.

You're a lucky guy, the Milgauss are stunning watches, and I should advice you to go to your AD and to see if it sings to you.

Well,all have been spoken by nicolas and others.I just would like to add on the DNA identity of this watch is superb and the added value would be the green sapphire crystal glass which make it stands out compare to other siblings.....

and unpredictably.... the one I would like to own again--if I did buy one again--would be the black dial. The GV is very nice, but the --sorry to be obsessed with this word lately--Minimalism of the black dial really works--if you like Minimalism. The black dial makes the watch appear slightly larger--which I like--and the black dial blends into the watch as a whole--so it plays an equal role on the watch's appearance--giving good balance overall. The GV crystal makes the watch seem a tad smaller--and the green crystal along with the orange or 'parchment' color markers becomes the 'stars' of the watch. Separating themselves from the Whole.

Depends what you like: a great band or a great solo singer, I guess....

I have seen both, and prefer the black face only. Better balance without the cheddar cheese 3/6/9, and as well the cheddar do not have lume on them. As well at some angles that green cut down a bit on a clear sight of the face,..cleaner overall without the green...IMHO..

Prefer the fit to the Daytyona. The GV is becoming hot with some bay-area techies due to it's antimag qualities.. I could see this becoming a bit of an "it" watch.
