Hi everyone,
I'm a newcomer to Rolex Submariner. I'd like to ask expert opinion on 3 questions before I make a new purchase:
1) whether a simple Submariner (no date) is any good? Because I see a lot of collectors (and new buyers) usually purchase the Sub with the date (and magnifying glass).
2) the price for a new Submariner (with date) and a Sea Dweller different about 10%, which one you think is of a higher value in the long run?
3) Is there a new Submariner with date and no magnifying glass?
Thanks for the advice!
Sam
Hi Sam.
1) Yes the 14060M Sub is an excellent timepiece with literally the same movement as the Sub Date, minus the date-wheel. It carries on the tradition of the original Sub from the 1950's with it's brushed bracelet and lug-holes case. A real beauty. Most people get the Sub Date because they want a date on their watch. I believe that you may be mistaken about what true collectors buy...
2). The Sea dweller is going to be more and more difficult to find as time goes by since it will be a discontinued model. Some like the idea of having a discontinued model, and others don't
3) No, there is not a new Sub Date without cyclops..
Before I bought my SD (16600), I too, was considering Sub-Date & Sub-NoDate. Frankly, I dislike the cyclop, which disrupts the view of dial. Much prefer the clean look.
I then chose the SD (as opposed to Sub-NoDate) due to it been discontinued and harder to get in future.
....out the SD now. Very good feeling. In teh process of negotiating the price. I may change to a Nato strap. What do you think?
