This last one gets most of the wrist time, by the way, but you know that very well, this is a vampire watch.
So, an Explorer I or II is a superb alternative, and these 2, without forgetting my 1655 band my 16570 are very enjoyable.
An eternity I didn't wear them!
Best, and thanks for your nice words, Ken.
Nicolas.
I have always wondered why the 16550 were so rare, I heard and read somewhere that they were some kind of specific export and limited numbers model. Regarding the 6610, it is another stunner too. I remember that Dr Strong had a 1016 with a honey comb dial.
happy easter to you and yours.

georges
With some special features... Whic lasted a few years, to be replaced by the 16 570.
A review is in the tube.
I don' t think it is a specific export: I saw US papers, but also european or asian.
Best,
Nicolas.
. . .. Happy Easter!Thanks a lot for your nice words, Sean.
Happy Easter to you and yours, too.
Nicolas.
I waved a long time in finding MY Explorers, as I always wanted an Explo I, a Freccione, and a Cream Dial ( 16550 ).
You know the story, there are many on the market, but a very few you fall in love with.
Aweome patina, great condition, these are the main virtues before finding YOUR watch.
The Explo II 16550 is not a common watch: The funny thing is that we really don't see many on the web.
Because it is ( relatively ) rare, or because it bis not very popular?
I, for one, love them all!
Best, amigo.
Nicolas.
The vanilla dial is to die for, and so is the chocolate dial!

the explorer 1 has a beautifully patinated dial in a colour that is possibly my favourite. the explorer 2 seems a bit pale in comparison. perhaps the strap over accentuates the paleness of the dial, i'd just jump on the exp 1 in a flash.
BTW my brothers McQueen Explorer 2 is coming back from service soon and i'm working on him to try to get it in my collection, but i think i'm on a losing streak with that one
nevertheless i'll try to get some pics of it in a couple of months as we deserve to see an original condition beauty.

The 6610 is more exuberant, its charm is easier to catch.
If I had to choose only one among these 2, I would go for the 6610, but go figure why, I was always fatally attracted by the 16550, too.
I realized a dream when I found one in a superb condition and complete.
Best, my friend, and I can't wait to see some nice pics of the Freccione!
Nicolas.
But expect to pay a quite high price ( around 7000 Euros ), as both came with a Gilt Dial, at this moment.
Best,
Nicolas.
