Yep...6239 is by far the most common vintage Daytona.... but there is something unique about this one....it was the first PN i bought and stays with me now for many years.

the number of steel 6239 produced is just a little higher (for what I know less than 10 % ) than 6263 or 6265 ... so for these 3 references the total amount is in the very same range.
20 years ago the market gave a premium to free pushers versions ( in some old magazines they were nicknamed " the true vintage daytonas ") but since the end of the 90s the trend has changed .. and so a few unfaithful dealers created this fable ....  in order to justify the growing difference in price between free and screw down pushers.
we can have an easy confirmation of this statement considering the average production of Rolex watches ( all models in ) during two different periods  of 5 years :
1) from 1965 to 1969 : the average amount is nearly 225.000 watches per year .
2) from 1982 to 1986 : the average number per year jumps to 480.000.

....so the most common, but not by far. I will settle at that

IMO the PN is the holy grail of Rolex watches, it has a certain prestige to it. Yours look magnificent on the material strap, do you have more photos of the band?

Ordinarily, any Paul Newman Daytona wouldn't be considered ordinary.  But when it comes to Baron, he has so much experience in seeing and handling them, that its become a second nature to him. An extremely fortunate position to be in!
