Some years ago I walked into B&H in NYC to buy a SLR. The guy behind the counter recommended a Sony 100 something or another, expensive. I bought it.

Blah pictures. Then a bought an Olympus Tough TG (I think mine is 4) for fishing and hunting trips. Great little camera, for me better than the Sony. And I use them rarely. But, yes, that’s a pretty good option. My grandfather was a photography buff, big time. I remember him using a Hasselblad, the ones that opened from the top. He was well known for his pictures. But I was left out of that gene pool. Thank you for the suggestion !!
Thanks for sharing your great story, dear Besançon!

My father was also a Camera buff and when he passed away I inherited two of his most appreciated cameras: a Nikon FM-2, and a beautiful and pristine F-3, designed by Giugiaro if I remember well. The first camera he gave me was a Minolta X-300, with which I learnt the basics.
Maybe some day I will re take his hobby. For now I use mi phone’s camera for the sake of practicality.
