A sprinkling of fresh snow and some morning sunshine - Wednesday with the Grand Seiko 4520-8000 ⏱️❄️🇯🇵
While several members are rightly happy with the modern re-edition - and it has been high time for Grand Seiko to look at the 45GS and make an appropriate modern hand wound movement for it, I am likewise enjoying the historical grandfather - the 4520-8000.
By far my thinnest hi-beat watch and the Grammar of Design, originally introduced on the 44GS is no less well executed here. And even though these have not been privy to the SHAC technology that came some years later, the shape for a watch more than a decade older than its current wearer is much greater than the wearer 😁

With Emmanuel’s able and scholarly assistance, I just scored a Ref. 43999, the Grand Seiko Self-Dater, from 1964. It is from the 57 GS Series. I don’t have it in hand yet, but here’s a pic or two or four from the ad.
These vintage Grand Seikos are certainly ageless and timeless classics.

. . . which replaced the GS SBGW287 . . .
. . . in the rotation. So yes, it's been a Seiko week for this Omega guy.
Vintage Seiko - not to mention King and Grand - is just as rewarding as the Swiss stuff.
