A bit like the Japanese car industry - donβt be first or the most exciting / experimental, just use what works well and what you can manufacture easily at scale and do this well.
People might hate me for the comparison even if it is meant as a compliment - Rolex is closest to the Toyota Corolla in automotive terms. No bells and whistles but does what it is supposed to do with utmost reliability and consistency. Funnily enough more Rolex watches than Corollas are sold annually, so the comparison is not as wacko as it may at first sound.
