In the last month or so I’ve noticed my Tank MC chrono hasn’t been keeping such good time. It’s about 2.5 years since purchase and was keeping reasonably good time, but only in the last month seems to be losing somewhere in the range of 15 or more seconds a day. Any thoughts on whether this rather sudden deviation is normal, and whether it just requires regulation or should it go in for a service? Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
I thought it could be that but doesn’t magnetisation usually speed up a watch, not slow it down? Maybe worth a try though, can that just be done at the boutique?
Yes usually but that’s worth trying in my opinion. I think that would be easier to see a watchmaker if you know one. I’m not sure you’ll have a demagnetiser in a boutique if they have no watchmaker on the spot
Does anyone have a 1904 based watch and can comment on the accuracy? The first month of ownership was great. Gained/lost 1 second a week. I was very impressed/lucky. Then I went on holidays for six weeks and it remained unworn at home. It’s drifted ever since, although probably within COSC type parameters, until the last month.
It can slow down as you have described and it will be progressive. So if you notice over the next few weeks you are losing gradually more seconds/day, more than likely it will be the main spring.
