F.P. Journe

Terrible lighting in the restaurant but what a beautiful beast. 

F.P. Journe is truly a special producer that has established themslves as brand that will leave a strong legacy.

I’m generally not a big fan of black label except the Centigraphe, which to me is a clear winner. I also love the boutique edition of the CS with the gold print. This one was gorgeous. Some times I find the black dials a bit flat and dull in the texture. I feel it Can even look a bit cheep and plastic like in some models. Although I andmit they oftentimes photograph better. My preference is most times with the grey dials that has a changing character depending on which strap you choose and the light.

Interesting taking. From pictures the black label look gorgeous. Will soon I’ll get to see them in person. Amazing watch 🤩

Before I acquired my black label CO, I always admired it on someone else's wrist. Now that I have it, I am looking for other dial colors to admire. I guess the grass is greener on the other side but the current premium they are getting for the black label is not worth it IMO.

Which is of course dead stunning…. The premium on BL., I agree, is not worth it. I was sad to see if move to this point

Personally I’d not pay the premium.
Whether I think it’s the right commercial decision or not I’m not sure. I haven’t thought too much about it ! One thing for sure is that the market clearly told everyone that these black dials do command a premium and so the change in pricing structure based on that alone is justified. So long as the market continues to indicate this, when it doesn’t will that premium all be reversed at retail? (A rhetorical question, just to be clear. I know the answer 😂).

Honestly. It used to be that BL commanded a small premium in the price but otherwise it was a courtesy shown to collectors when the brand management felt it was deserved. It’s not like a block dial is harder to make than a grey or pink. I think this is what I don’t like.

I think for me, with the exception of the CS, the black dial and rose gold case is a clear favourite.  I’ve not seen one I haven’t liked with the Optimum being the clear favourite for me.

There's a simple elegance to the black label editions. But all variations are incredibly compelling, especially when you happen to catch an unexpected glimpse of one in the wild.
