Finally I received an FPJ brochure; thanks a lot Bruno !!!

The Tourbillon Remontoir and Seconde Morte models are the two favorites of
mine, and I was curious how many different models (case-/dial -color etc)
are made of each.

In 2002 I saw a PT/YG Octa RDM and a Resonance (forgot its color scheme but
I think it was RG/WG but I can easily be mistaken) and both combo´s looked
mighty fine to me, but I was wondering what other options are available for
Journe Tourbillon watches (both, used and new).

Also, are (remontoir and jumping second) Journe Tourbillons available in
both 38 and  40mm cases or only in the 40mm size?

create Journeitis to go with you Lange sickness. Journes feel very different than Langes. I love to wear Journe when I'm in a more playful mood and Lange when i have serious business to do.

Totally different feel to the Lange's, but I would hazard to say much much more romantic and dreamy. FPJ is now the only brand I have other than my PPs and I love them, and hope to add a dead seconds soon (cjeck out the black label- to die for!).

I respect ALS, I love PPs, I am in love with FPJs... You have to dive in, trust me.

I do not have a Journe YET but I'm pretty sure I'll buy one in the future.
A Chronomètre Souverain will be my choice.

OK, just kidding, Edwin, but we all know how you love your Langes. Check out the Journes; they're very different from the Langes. Much more whimsical in aesthetics (so French), whereas Langes are much more "straightforward" and perfect in their execution (so German). Both are atop their respective games.

The current model of Tourbillon from Journe is the
dead seconds and is available in 38 or 40mm case in
platinum or rose gold.White gold(silvery grey colour)
or rose gold dial available with both cases.
The original tourbillon with rementoir partly visible on
the dial is only available in 38mm in plat or rg with yellow,
white or r gold dial.This model is discontinued but there may
be some still available at authorised dealers.

Can any of the purists experts please correct me if I have any
details wrong.

The Ruthenium Remontoir was produced only in 40mm.

9/11 PT/YG engraved dial in 38mm, RG/BMOP and PT/MOP Dead Seconds in 40mm, and there are Black Label and Ti ones as well. One problem is that there are "too many" limited editions to keep track of.

Knowing your collection, I will strongly recommend a 38mm old remontoir tourbillon.
You can considering getting PT version with YG or WG dial.
The Old Remontoir Tourbillon is cool because you do get to see the remontoir in action rather than a dead second.
It is like why will you want to get a PLM with the fusee chain covered.
I love my tourbillon very much and I love my 'new' Lange too ;-)
And BTW, with this Journe Tourbillon, I'm over with the Lange PLM.
This one is way more worth it.
The remontoire feature is way cool, kinda like the Lange 31 except this one is wearable, with a tourbillon and probably half price ;-)

What's not in the FPJ catalog is his new black label limited series.... you may want to consider:

Black Label Dead Seconds which can be ordered in 38mm or 40mm.

I did handle Journe watches in 2002 when I purchased my Lange-1 ... I did
like them alot (the RDM and Resonance are the ones shown to me back then)
except for the crown Mr. Journe uses. I dont like its shape.

I still dont _really_ like its shape but I guess it fits the rest of the
design very well and I am sure that when my taste matures I will start to
see its beauty.

Thanks to Bruno´s catalog I am confused now. Before having read the brochure
I was sure the original Tourbillon in PT with a YG dial was the one for me
... now I think there are LOTS of gorgeous Journe watches available;
honestly I am drooling over that baquette studded Tourbillon that is
pictured in it. Wow what an impressive piece of case work (is the case
thicker then a ´plain´ model ? It looks that way)

And thanks to John´s picture of the PT/WG sample I start to love that model
very much as well.

The black label Seconde Morte ... hmm... isnt the contrast not to high for a
Swiss/French watch? Doesnt it suit a German model better? I guess I need to
see it in the metal. The Ruthenium models look very nice as well and I am
sure the MOP models are stunning in the metal (?) as well.

BUT

I have still one watch on order that I have to pay for first. Until I
receive that watch I have still time to learn more about Journe´s creations.

If I stick to the original remontoir tourbillon; 38mm is a size that suits
me fine. I think I want a PT case (for its color and heft) with either the
YG or the WG dial (classy and original vs. cool and more stealthy and
perhaps easier to wear casually)

I think having read that there is some variance in the appearance of Journe
dials. Is that the case? And the subdials ... TGiS writes about the white
subdial where CL mentions his silver(-y) subdial.

Bruno, do you know if the Journe ´dealer´ we discussed before has an
original remontoir either in stock or in his private collection?

It's true there is some variance in dial colors particulary some of the older models.  I've seen subdials that are more grey to stark white. 

only appearing in/on the subdials or on both the main dial and sub dials ?

Your watch, f.i., the subdial looks white; is it? And the ´champagne´ YG
dial. I have seen a YG dial that was, uhh, YG, but yours is looking
different, more RG perhaps?

The subdials are more divided between the stark white ones and more grey/silver. The dials have much more variations especially in the older generations. The YG in the remontoir is much more gold/champagne versus the more modern yellow gold. Earlier dials had a more glossy finish versus the newer more matted appearance.

You are absolutely right.. in the light even the older generation YG can have an almost PG appearance.

I feel a Lange lover like you will find Journe very dangerously addictive as well. Like CL, I'd also suggest 38mm original remontoir tourbillon, which has been one of my favorites. I only wish I can afford one some day. The Dead Seconds is also very cool, especially in some limited edition like the Black Label (which is really in limited production and fortunately still available) as shown in Brad's picture.

I have enjoyed your Lange posts for several years!  In fact, because of your passion I purchased my Lange 1 and PT Datograph.  I traded the L1 but the Dato remains my fav chrono of all time .

However...  FPJ is totally unique as a brand; and a wonderful brand Journe truely is.  I have owned several pieces and the ones that remain are both of the versions of the tourbillon and the Resonance.  I would have to agree with the other writters in that, for me, the origional tourbillon (mine's in PT w/ YG dial and white sub dial - I LOVE IT!)  is the bomb!  With a dark chocolate strap, and the remontoier alive on the dial, the watch is perfect from everyting from a pair of jeans (or even dress shorts) and a polo shirt to a suit.  It is a PP killer (makes the 5970 look like an old-money wanna' be...); there were only a few hundreed total of all 3 color combos ever made.  If there is only ONE, this is deffinately it (for me).

The dead seconds tourbillon, especially in 40 mm,  looks more refined, and is very much more dressy.  Today, I wore it with an italion suit and I still felt over dressed with the watch; but that's just me; you may love it!  I'm sure others love it as much as I love my older version.  I'll probably be saying good-by my dead seconds this year to make way for another piece...

A close second to the origional tourbillon is the Resonance.  I think, by the end of this year, I'll be down to three "major" watches; the origional PT/YG tourbillon with the remontoier visable on the dial, the PT/WG Resonance and the greatest chronograph ever created... The Datograph

BTW, FPJ is as hot of a reseller as anything else out there; and has been so since the begining of the brand.
