F.P. Journe

finally, i will be capture a Journe resonance. a watch which has been in my wish list for sometime. i myself have not handled the watch hence i wonder whether anyone has comment on your experience with the watch i.e. how it performs ? any input will be appreciated

I have had two, one in platinum and the other titanium (Tokyo edition).  I have enjoyed both, and as a piece is one of my favorites (not only a Journe favorite but a favorite from all my collection).  Typically, I have both dials set at the same time (to emphasize the resonance idea the watch employees), but I've also used the Resonance as a dual time zone watch.  My only issue:  While a wonderful watch from the dial side, I am always tempted to view the movement, a few times per day, since it is one of the more unique movements I've seen--the symmetry, the workmanship.  It takes a few minutes each time I wear the Resonance to become used to winding the watch crown at 12, but with a couple moments of care, I enjoy the experience.

For me, the Resonance defines the Journe approach to watchmaking and the entire Journe aesthetic.  Enjoy the journey.

ended up selling it since winding was too difficult.  Folks say they get used to this and it becomes automatic, but not in my hands.

Is not a huge issue for me at all although it may seem like a challenging task initially. I wind Resonance with movement faced upwards and I always enjoy admiring it as I wind. With everything else that the Resonance represents, winding is the least of my concern, although I do understand that, to some it can be quite a problem. This piece is a real work of art. Best I advice I can give is to try one out in person, it can make all the difference, both ways. Good luck!

For me, too, winding was difficult and painful.  Also, I'd need to buy glasses to easily read the sub dials and I don't want to go there

Otherwise it is one of my favorite watches of all time.

If I could only own one Journe it would definitely be the Resonance. The movement alone is reason enough not just for aesthetics but also the brilliant use of the resonance principle in a wristwatch. This is truly unique and to date I don't know of any other brand that even attempts to duplicate his creation. As for the dial I love it no matter in which metal/dial color combination. There is no doubt winding the watch requires a different technique which at first may feel awkward compared to a traditional watch. Some find this frustrating but to me IMHO it's yet another defining characteristic that adds to the beauty of the piece. Congrats in advance for adding such a wonderful piece.

of the winding crown (which I love!), it just is painful on my finger tips as the tension or torque builds.  You know I adore this watch and would happily own it again if that were to ever change...

Has FPJ ever spoken of this issue, or am i in such a minority that it is inconsequential..?

Don't worrie about hurting my feelings re inconsiquential - I've been married for 20 years and if there's one thing I know...

wake up from watch-buying hibernation. Get resonance w/ BMOP. You don't shop a lot, so when you do shop, pls shop till u drop .

I just left the FP Journe "factory" in Geneva.  What an experience.  Met FPJ as he was working on a 18th century clock he has along with a dozen others in his outer "display" area.  I believe the Resonance must be on my wrist. The question is whether I should try to find one of the orignal brass movement watches or buy one with the rg movement.  In any event, the trip to his factory, meeting him and seeing his personal work bench and the insides of his shop was even better than a tour of the PP museum.  A great experience.  Thanks for your opinion.

Resonance is an amazing watch. Nothing should hold you from getting one. I hope to get a ruthenium or boutique edition this year.
