Hi IWC. I've recently been thinking about buying the 7147 reference, but with a guilloché dial. I'll have the chance to try it on in two or three months.
In the meantime, could you tell me how is your your experience with the somehow long and straight lugs? What you s the size of your wrist? Mine is 18.5cm. Best. Promotional photo.

You can't go wrong with either...
Especially if the date doesn't bother you. To me, the sunken subdial and the Grand Feu dial together were everything about the 7147.

Mine is in the safe, so I can't try winding it right now.
However, I don't remember ever having the issue like yours with my 7147. When winding it, the experience was not very different compared to when winding my other manual watches. You should bring it back to the shop and do a comparison with the other Bregu
