Another 50 year old !

Another vintage GS today, this time the 56GS. One of the more common vintage GS I think one sees around. These don’t hold the same pull over me as the 61GS, see previous post, and the main reason for this is the additional metal between the lugs on these

Keeping the vintage GS momentum going here !

Lanteanflux’s post inspired me to take a little group snot myself. 1 and 2 from the left are 56GS, 3, 4 and 5 are 61GS. #3 and 4 are the exact same watch (6156-8000, with faceted crystal).

You know I’m heavily biased towards these. Great trio, with two more cool ones on the way.

It’s amazing that prices have remained relatively low, even allowing for GS and vintage GS hitting the big auction catalogs in recent years. I’m hoping to add one or two to my little vintage GS collection later this year. Specifically another 61GS, but a

Love the faceted crystal too.

I have a few 61GS with the faceted crystal; the vertical facets (if that’s the right way to describe them) are best I think. There are several with both vertical and horizontal and I’m not sure it works as well. Here’s a 6156 with a faceted crystal.

61GS

I have two 61GS on the way, one a cross hair dial 6145-8000 but the other the more oddball 6146-8050. It shouldn’t be my kind of watch at all but the whole combination seems kinda retro cool and an example with a decent dial came up so I just took it. I’m

Yes, case case case.

Look forward to seeing what you bought, please do share. I’m a big fan of the 61GS, and have several from the late 60s/early 70s. Also have a couple variations of the 56GS like I posted above. Continually on the lookout, but have always preferred to buy i

Vintage GS Love

Snapped some pictures as the sun goes down tonight of several vintage Grand Seiko. I’ve shared these before so I think many of you will be familiar with these watches. This little collection would (should) have been larger at this point but my rule on the

A Grand Seiko day today, 6156.

Like the VFA just posted by bimbeano this 61GS was also finely tuned (to Speical if not VFA standards). Accuracy aside it’s the case design that really sets these watches apart. Pictures will never do them justice however.

Thank you. I think you guys have seen almost them all.

I will post a group shot at some point when the light it good. I tried a few evenings ago but with inside lighting and the pictures were'nt really good. The vintage GS is like a sub collection, and something I've built up over a number of years going to J

If being recommended for bookmarking, then...

... probably a few other small things should be addressed. I'd be most interested to see any examples of watches that disprove any of the below With regards the vintage Grand Seiko era, the final catalogue that the watches appeared in was volume 2 of 1975
