Nicolas, your story never leaves my mind. I still feel for you and the lost pieces. I remind myself I am on Earth for a greater purpose, and I live for God and my Family. Still, it is natural for us to develop strong feelings and emotions for possessions, and to lose them can be devastating.
Your dilemma is understandable. Simply replacing each piece (which could probably be cost prohibitive too) is likely not the answer. I wish the D2 could be the replacement of your D1, but I don't think that will end up happening.
I sincerely thank you for sharing these photos. I can tell you back when I was flirting with the watch I scoured the net for the very best photos to set in a folder to drool over, and some of these images were there. Perhaps one day it will be more than just a dream...

Your pictures make the most of the fascinating contrasts of these SUPERB case and dial. Not to mention the light and color contrasts in the movement (indeed one of the nicest and finest in the industry, and certainly THE best of the handwound chronographs...
Well, the blue accents you can see on the dial are caused by the anto reflect coating

is already a tough job. Lot´s of people try to do it and most of the them fail. To replace an icon is even harder, isn´t it? Only a few more days until we can see it in the metal ... Oliver

I admire the 5070, of course, but for one reason or another (in truth, it's price is partly the reason) I have never seriously considered it. Paying private tuition x2 now, it will be a long time before I can seriously consider the Duo or Les Historiques....

My opinion -- I agree with you both! I would find a "0" superfluous on the Dato, but that may be a cultural difference. Americans don't often refer to the date as "01", "02" etc. As for the two rotating hands, I don't find it displeasing. Again my opinion...
